Hello
Just stopping bye to Wish those who celebrate Easter a Happy Easter.
While I am here I will share what I have been up to.
I have been spending a little time at the sewing machine.
It started with this
24 of my husband’s business shirts which have worn cuffs and collars. Little Ms A (11) helped me deconstruct and iron these for a quilt top.
I have used part of 8 so far and cut into 8″ squares
These squares were then made into half square triangles using the method at Missouri Star Quilts here.
This is the first time I have made HST and I don’t know why I haven’t before. Β It really wasn’t hard.
I have now sewn these into a quilt top. Β I plan to baste in the next few weeks.
I have many 2.5″ strips plus the button section and the yokes which I will use for another quilt top. Β I haven’t yet cut the shirt front with the pocket either – mainly because I’m not sure how to treat the pocket.
Here is a little update pic of my bamboo t shirt
pattern can be found here
This should be finished soon.
Hope you get some chocolatey goodies
Until next time
Cheers
Vicki
Vicki, hope you have a great Easter if you celebrate it too. Love what your doing with those shirts, you are so clever. I cant sew to save a life, well I can hem very nicely and can sew on a button but there it ends. Loving your bamboo top too.
Thank you Aileen. I’m sure you can sew – if you can hem you can sew.
Happy Easter to you and your family as well. Your energy looks amazing and that quilt will be so lovely and soft as well. What a great idea.
Thanks Susan. It is very soft – very worn shirts π Hope you are having a great Easter and you had a visit from the Easter Bunny π
You have been busy, what a great idea to make the shirts into a quilt!
Thanks Therese. I have seen some amazing quilts by very creative people out there and decided I should give this a go. I had all the shirts! Have a great day hope the Easter bunny found you π
This is so clever and inspirational! I never would have even thought to do this!!
Thanks Andrea. Google is a wonderful thing – not my idea. Such a great way though to use shirts that are past their wearable date. Hope you had a great Easter π
You have 2 blog fans named “Andrea” … aren’t you lucky!!! (grin) π What a great way to use the old shirts. You have been busy! I love seeing what others have been creating! Always an inspiration! Hugs xx
Thanks Andrea. I am lucky aren’t I π You know what they say – better to be busy than bored! Returning soon with some paper creations π
