Hello
My poor neglected blog and followers! So sorry for my absence over January.
Hope your 2018 has got off to a great start. Mine has been rather busy. After a short break away with the family I have been lucky enough to pick up 3 more days work on a temporary basis. So that means for the short term I am working 5 days. I know a lot of you reading this do this already but it is a while since I have. So far the house hasn’t fallen down but hubby and all the kiddos have been home doing all the washing, cooking and cleaning. Mr M (20) even did the ironing one day.
Anyway what have I managed to do? I managed to finish a pair of socks. You can find them here. I did have to frog (pull back) after the first sock as I realised I wasn’t going to have enough yarn to make the second sock. So I decided to use some yarn left over from another project to make a contrasting cuff, heel and toe. As I have more of this company’s yarn in other colours I will know in advance to pick a shorter sock or start with a contrast to save frogging.
Ms S is modelling for me
I made this shawl.
I used Bendigo Woollen mills yarn here no two balls are the same.
I must mention Ms S did really really well in her Year 12 exams. She made the high achievers assembly at her school plus had more than she needs for the course she wants to do. She also got her licence so we are now looking for a car so she can drive herself to her activities. In the meantime she is sharing with Mr M which means driving him to work so she can use his car.
It became to hot to do much else so I have been working on the never ending project of PP hexies. I have decided I will make them into grandmother’s garden and outline with white to make up into a quilt at some time in the future.
I need to get back into some card making soon. Miss A has 5 birthday invitations and she doesn’t return to school until Monday.
Until next time
Cheers
Vicki
Love your socks! Hope the job becomes easier and things settle down. Congratulations to Ms S on her exam results. Keep cool.
Thanks Susan. Yes things should be easier in a month or so. Will pass on to Ms S
Big congratulations to Ms S on her high achievements at Yr 12 – and so happy she has been accepted into her chosen course! Yes, you’ve been missed, Vicki, but so understandable over the Christmas break. Hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas! But you’ve been productive – those socks are fab, and the shawl beautiful! Best wishes for a great 2018 🙂
Such a lovely message Ann thank you. Will pass on congratulations to Ms S.
Sounds like you have been your usual busy self but doing more lol. Those socks look so darn cute, I’m sure if I knitted them they would be totally different sizes and there would be very little ‘staying up’ happening.
Thanks Therese. I am sure you could manage a pair of socks. You know what they say better to be busy than bored! Bored I certainly am not. 🙂
The shawl and socks are so pretty, Vicki! It has to be a big adjustment to go back to work five days, but it sounds like the family is pulling their share of the weight to make it possible. That’s a testament to YOU!! Hugs, Darnell
Welcome back 🙂 I love the socks, they look so comfy
