Christmas cards and a quilt…

Hello

Today I am sharing a few projects I have that have been keeping me busy.

Another quilt.

Just loved the fabric and wanted to play with HST.

img_7614-612x640 img_7612-640x521You may recall I made this one a little while ago using the same fabric from Emma Jean Jansen’s Ella Blue range.

I have made a few Christmas cards which I will link up to the current challenge at Scrapbook Boutique here

I have just gone with the general Christmas theme! hope that is ok.

Love the font of Mama Elephant Jingle Greetings and the PTI penguin is pretty cute too.  I added him to a drift of snow using SU Thoughtful branches in grey ink topped with dazzling details.  I know we don’t have snow in Aus at Christmas.

A few cards…

Hello

Today we had a small family celebratory lunch for one of my husband’s brothers who recently turned 50.

50th birthday card (480x640)

He is a teacher so Papersmooches Smarty pants seemed the right choice.  I coloured the pencils with alcohol markers after stamping with memento tuxedo black ink. Ms A (11) had a lot of fun directing me to which combinations I should use!  The sentiments are from Papersmooches Digits and the numbers are die cut using Papersmooches Numbers die.  The sentiment was originally to be one panel but you may have guessed I needed to seperate to fit on the card front.  What was that my Dad use to say? “measure twice cut once!” Anyway I’m sure if I didn’t mention you would all think this is how I intended the card to be.

I am linking this up to Kathy’s 30 day colour challenge here

this one

and Virginia’s View Challenge here

Last week I had 2 occasions for sympathy cards.

IMG_2115 (511x640) IMG_2114 (494x640)

I used Inspired by stamping Big Notes III and SU Botanical Builder Framelits.

In my last post I mentioned a recent trip to Bendigo.

Here is a pic of my purchase at Bendigo Woollen Mills…

Bendigo woollen mills July 2016 back room (640x505)

At some time in the future a jumper for me, a cardi for Ms E and 3 pairs of socks.  The light grey is the new Savanna, the darker grey is Aurora and sock yarn (one undyed and 2 dyed).  My current knitting project is a jumper for Ms A (11) in BWM Bold Bamboo Rouge.

Until next time

Just in time…

Hello

I am just in time to link up to this months challenge at Scrapbook Boutique here

I was inspired to make this card from the minute I saw the mood board –  some 3 weeks ago!

I was writing something earlier today and had the “AH” moment when I realised it was the last day of the month! So after swimming tonight I put my inspiration into action – hence the poor picture quality – no outside pics at 9.30 at night.

Here is my card

Baby's first framelits

The image from SU Made with love was stamped onto some IBS Vintage Floral paper and die cut with Baby’s First Framelits die.  I added some pink lacey elastic left over from leggins I made Miss A (11) when she was a toddler! and added a little pink ribbon for the waist band and a ribbon bow.

The little dancers, particularly the little one in the middle of the mood board were my inspiration. This was layered onto the card front and finished with a sentiment from Flourishes Kids at Play.

Thanks for stopping

Cheers

Playing with 3 x 3 …

Hello

Today marks the first day everyone is back at school/work/uni for the year.  I know it is March.

So what did I do?  I played  helped out  in the art room for Ms A.  We went outside for about an hour and sketched what we could see then returned to the art room to add tones and colours.  Some of these kids can draw and clearly it isn’t for some of the others. I picked up a tip or two from the art teacher – you know there is a reason I like stamps, dies and punches! I really can’t draw.

Anyway I am back home now and thought I would share a few things I put together over the weekend.

I am linking up to the following challenges

NBUS #6 – Never before used schtuff here – today mine are SU No Bones about it, IBS Small Fancy Labels 1 (sentiment) and SU Flowering Fields

Never-Before-Used-Schtuff (Stamps, Dies, EFs, etc.)

Seize the birthday here – most of the 3 x 3 cards I created are good for a birthday

Our Badge

All cards are 3 x 3.  I plan to make them into little sets.

3 x 3 cards male (640x479)

In this group I have used NBUS SU No Bones about it, sentiment from Jane’s Doodles Doodle Flowers II, PTI World’s Greatest plus SU word window & modern label punches.

3 x 3 cards (640x359)

In this group I have used PTI birthday tags and Tremendous treats stamp sets.  I coloured the hot air balloon with alcohol markers and the balloons with intense pencils. I have also used circle punches.

3 x 3 cards girlie (640x632)

In the final grouping I have used Mama Elephant Waterblooms and IBS NBUS Small Fancy labels 1 sentiment. The other stamps used are from PTI Tremendous treats, NBUS SU Flowering Fields and the “a little something for a little someone” is also SU but I don’t know where from! I again used circle punches, SU Itty bitty accents punch, ME Sew fancy dies and SU Tags & Labels framelits.  The cake is coloured with alcohol markers and has a wink of stella on the candles. Whilst the Flowers were stamped by colouring the stamp with a marker and then adding colour from the ink pad with a water brush.

I also used some pattern paper by adding a layered sentiment.  I must make up some normal size cards to use some of the pattern paper I have been holding on to.

Thanks for stopping

Cheers

Darth Vader meets the Avengers…

Hello

For some reason my birthdays seem to come in batches!

This week we have 3 birthdays over 2 days.

Starting yesterday with Ms 16’s Boyfriend’s 16th birthday – yes she is older by 5 or 6 weeks!

He likes Star Wars – so much that he couldn’t wait until Christmas for his gift (a star wars t shirt & bag) because he wanted to wear it to the midnight screening of the new movie.

So after lots of googling this is what we decided on. We were inspired by this card here.

IMG_7142 (540x640)

Some punch art with a simple stamped greeting from The Paper company Birthday stamp set. The whole darth vader image is popped up with foam tape.

I am linking this to the current challenge at The Sisterhood of Crafters here – something old, something new

All the punches used are old, as is the stamp set – the new are enamel dots.

ARE YOU OUR STEP SISTER?

Two more Birthdays today

Today is a double birthday – my friend’s daughter is 16 and Mr M turns 18.

Mr M is a huge Marvel Avengers fan along with Dr Who and Star Wars. As I made the Darth Vader card for Ms S’s boyfriend and I have made him a Dr who inspired card here and here in the past it was time for a Marvel inspired card. Again lots of googling!

Thanks to these sites here and here for inspiration

IMG_7144 (640x591)

I used A4 cardstock and cut to 10.5 cm and scored at 10.5 cm intervals to create a concertina card and added additional “pages” until I had the number I needed.

This is the inside of the card

IMG_7145 (640x208)

left to right

Captain America, the Hulk, Thor, Iron man and the Black Widow (my version needs a little work she needs to be a little slimmer!)

I am linking this card up to the challenge at the Male Room here

To make the card front I used SU – Number of Years stamp and die set along with PTI Birthday Bash stamp set stamped with SU Real Red and Night of Navy ink and cardstock. I cut the numbers from fun foam to help raise them off the card front – this is so much easier than using multiple layers of cardstock. I have used lots of punches and dies to create the characters within the card. Some of these didn’t come out as expected, I am just going with it! I know the green arrow is missing and also hawk eye – maybe another time?

Ms 11 has put in a request for a card like this for her next birthday with little pet shop as the theme – in December!

and the final card for today

IMG_7143 (492x640)

Once again I have used the SU Number of Years stamp set and die and used fun foam die cut to add dimension.  I also used Inspired by stamping spring lilacs ribbon collection. Colours are SU very vanilla, perfect plum, so saffron and early espresso stamped off onto scrap first as I thought it may be too dark for this card.

I am linking this card up to the challenge at The Colour Tree here

http://addinktivedesigns.blogspot.com.au/2016/01/the-colour-tree-challenge-1-and-free.html

This is the quilt I made for my friend’s daughter

Siobhan's Quilt (1) (521x640)

Another disappearing nine patch. Quilted in the ditch around the 1/4 squares of the original nine patch. Quilt measures 130 cm x 160 cm .  It consists of 8 fabrics cut into 180 5″ squares in the blocks plus backing fabric (plain white) and black cotton binding fabric.  When I decided to make this quilt her colour preference was mauve and a French theme.  I have spent a few months collecting the fabrics, who knew mauve wasn’t such a “big” colour and “French theme” isn’t so big either. I can bet next time I go into a fabric store both those themes will be everywhere. One of the fabrics has French words, the Eiffel Tower, lace and other images and is also mauve so that had to be included.  I’m hoping her taste hasn’t changed significantly and she will use this for a few years.

Sorry for such a mammoth post

Thanks for hanging in til the end

Until next time

Cheers

Vicki

Stars and Trains …

Hello

I have a few things to share today.

Ms 10 helped me last week sort through my stash and we found a few gaps. Mainly due to the fact I make as I need. So I have been making a couple of things over the last few days to fill those gaps.

And doing so I am linking up to a few challenges as well

This first card I made in two colour ways using a range of stars from Annabelle Stamps Boy’s Party, Uniko Balloon Bash, Inspired by Stamping Build a Stocking, Papertrey Ink Star Prints and sentiment from Papertrey Ink.

and the next card I am linking up to the challenge at Scrapbook Boutique here

IMG_6898 (640x465)

I stamped my image from Stamp It and mounted onto chocolate coloured card stock. The pattern paper is from a Kaisercraft pad along with the tag I stamped the sentiment on. The sentiment is from PTI World’s Greatest.

I also have a little update on my jumper.

The pattern I am using can be found here  and here.

I am knitting in Bendigo Woollen Mills Athena yarn I purchased last year. It is lovely and soft.

July Scrapbook Boutique challenge…

Hello

How time gets away.

Thanks for stopping today.

Today’s card I am linking up to the current challenge at Scrapbook Boutique here

And here is my card

SBB July 2015 4 (534x640)

I started by stamping Kaisercraft lace stamp using PTI aqua mist ink onto my cardstock. I stamped the images from Mama Elephant Up and Away in memento tuxedo black ink onto blending cardstock before colouring with various alcohol markers and cutting out with the co ordinating dies. Before I fixed the die cut images to the card front I added small flowers from the set in SU pink piroutte ink. I used the Mama Elephant stitched die from the basic set I ran it through a second time to make my rectangle smaller. Before adhering I added a small piece of SU Mint macaron dotted lace trim. The sentiment from Inspired be stamping small fancy labels 1 is stamped in SU smoky slate ink and punched using the designer label punch.

Hope you have a great weekend planned.

Cheers

Vicki

Balloons…

Hello

Today’s card I am linking up to the current challenge at Inspired by Stamping here and the customer gallery.

I followed this sketch

IBSIC95---July-Sketch, Inspired by Stamping

Here is my card

IBS celebrating 2 years (640x475)

I started by printing some IBS digital paper which was in the latest newsletter.  I think one of the colours in my printer wasn’t right – my paper is more green than the newsletter sample.  I am sorry Joanna if this isn’t how you intended the colours to look.  Anyway I used the paper I printed.  It seemed to co ordinate really well with SU Pool party cardstock and coastal cabana ribbon.  I used Mama Elephant Sew Fancy stitched circle die and Lifestyle crafts nested circle dies for the die cut circles. I used SU Pool party, Bermuda bay, Night of Navy and Baked Brown sugar inks to stamp the images from Inspired by stamping Celebrating 2 years. I finished the card off with a little die cut from SU Balloon Framelits.

And here is my card

Uniko nautical treasures (640x459)

I created my own patterned paper using Uniko Nautical Treasures in SU River Rock and Smoky Slate inks. The main image from Uniko Nautical Treasures is stamped with SU Smoky slate ink. I mounted with SU night of navy cardstock. I used Mama Elephant Sew Fancy Dies to create waves, pattern beside the main image and the stitching around the sentiment panel. I also used Inspired by Stamping Fancy Label dies 3 and a 2″ circle punch for the sentiment panel. The sentiment is from PTI Star prints stamped in SU night of Navy ink. The sentiment panel was attached to some double sided adhesive paper I have had for ages and attached to some fun foam to give dimension. The twine is from Annabelle Stamps.

Jane’s Doodles Garden Friends + Jungle Baby…

Hello

I really have no excuse for my lack of posts. I have been creating trying to use new things before I put them away. It is great idea in theory however I seem to have fallen behind.

Today I am sharing cards I made using Jane’s Doodles Garden Friends and Jungle Baby along with sentiments from Inspired by stamping Celebrating 2 years.

challenge_graphic-June-650

And as my cards involve a bit of colouring I thought I would link them up to Kathy’s blog here

Jane's Doodles - Garden Friends & Jungle baby (640x525)

I started by stamping 6 different images from Garden Friends and Jungle Baby on Xpress it blending cardstock. I coloured these with various alcohol markers over several days/nights whenever I got a few minutes. I then mounted each one onto coloured cardstock and attached to my card fronts. The sentiments from Celebrating 2 years and Jungle Baby were then stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Thanks for stopping

Until next time
