Santa in the Sun…

Hello

The other day I got to have a little crafty time.

I was able to play with some new stamps and dies.

I am linking my creations up to the current challenge at Crafting with Dragonflies here – Non traditional Christmas Colours

I think my cards fit the brief.

Crafting With Dragonflies Challenge Blog

Recently I was lucky enough to have a SSS voucher which I used to put towards an order. In that order I purchased Clearly Besotted Santa in the Sun stamp set (and some other goodies I haven’t used yet).  This set I think is very suitable for an Aussie Christmas.

With my first play with this set I stamped images onto Xpress blending cardstock and coloured with alcohol markers, I then fussy cut them out.

For this card I created a background with DO inks and sprayed some water before adding the waves and the white wave caps – more fussy cutting.  The wave caps are finished with a little wink of stella.  Sentiment is from the same set.  Surfing Santa was popped up with foam tabs.

This one is a little simpler.  Santa is in the pool with his drink and a ball floating by.  I used a SU ribbon punch to create a border and a piece of adhesive backed paper (this has been in my stash for a while!) to create my pool. The sentiment is from ME Winter Wonderland. Santa is again popped up with foam tabs.

I really like the texture.

My last little Santa is the Selfie Santa.

I created the rolling hills using Uniquely creative dies (picked up from a craft show) and some scrap CS.  The suitcase was added then again Santa was popped up with foam tabs.

In case you are wondering I used some embossing paste to create Santa’s beard and fur trim to his hat.  I have flocking but never seem to get the result I am after, the embossing paste worked well however I did have to work quickly before it dried.

Thanks for stopping

Cheers

The walking dead 21st card…

Hello

This was a special request card for one of the 21st.  Yep the birthday girl is a huge walking dead fan.  Over Christmas she spent a few days with us and the girls watched a few series of the Walking Dead.  I must admit I had to leave the room a few times.

I am linking this up to the following challenges

walking dead abbey (640x476)

I found the image online here, printed onto xpress it cardstock and coloured with alcohol markers. Daryl looks like he has been to the wrong tanning salon – a little to “orange”. I used MME Breeze paper along with SU Number of Years stamp set heat embossed with silver embossing powder and numbers die cut from large numbers framelits.  To add a little interest and so the numbers weren’t totally lost I traced around the numbers using a silver marker.

Thanks for stopping

Until next time

More balloons…

Hello

I have a list of request cards to make for my kiddos they include the walking dead, rainbows and unicorns plus age birthday.  Currently there are 7 birthday invitations sitting on the counter. I am sure there are a few more,  there isn’t always a paper invite.  We are experiencing an influx of 16th’s, 18th’s and 21st’s! And Ms A (11) being in grade 6, the last year of primary school has 3 invites.

Today’s card can be used for any  birthday

I used SU Balloon framelits die and cut 6 balloons from various cardstock colours. I attached the balloons and strings to the pattern paper before adding to my card front.  The sentiment is from SU Endless birthday wishes.

With this list of requests you know I will be back soon

Until then

NBUS meets under the sea…

Hello

I have found 10 minutes to link these up.

Mr 17 is studying for his exams which means trying to keep things quiet – not easy when he has 3 sisters! Little Ms 10 has been keeping me busy with her activities and the school art show. Some lovely work. It is coming to the busy time of the year. My second part time job is an enrolment officer for a local preschool so at this time of year there is lots to do and lots of anxious mums and dads.

Anyway enough waffle here are some cards I have been making

Firstly

Some NBUS I picked up at Paperific recently and Darnell has the perfect challenge.

You can find the NBUS challenge here

Girlfriends (531x640)This card is off to a special “0” birthday of a friend of mine this weekend.

I used NBUS Art Impression Girlfriend stamp coloured with alcohol markers. The pattern paper is also NBUS SU Stacked with love.

Now I might just make the cut off for this challenge over at Crafting with Dragonflies here

I have made 2 cards.

I started by stamping images from MSS Ocean Fun onto watercolour paper and colouring with pencils.

This card I used some metalic paper I picked up somewhere. I made a porthole using dies from ME stitched sew fancy and Quickcutz circle dies.

and

Mss ocean fun 2 (640x479)

I used a stencil from SU Happy Patterns to create the background on my card front. I then added my image. The sentiment is from PTI Tiny Treats and the water grass is from My Cute Stamps fishy fun.

My last card today is one which I was inspired by Therese which can be found here

A butterfly or two…

Hello

If you haven’t heard the Crafting with Dragonflies challenge blog is back.

First challenge can be found here

I love badge

I am happy to hear Hilde is upto running this again.

It was a little prompt for me to get some butterflies who have been sitting on my workspace onto a card!

So while I was linking up to this challenge I will also link up to the Stamp Ink  Paper Challenge here

SIP Any Challenge 8

I stamped these butterflies a couple of weeks ago and that was as far as I got. I have been busy knitting and haven’t got back to my workspace.

watercolour butterflies

I started with a whisper white thick card base. The butterflies are stamped from SU Watercolor Wings in crushed curry marker, daffodil delight ink and memento tuxedo black ink onto a scrap of whisper white cardstock.

I then die cut with the co ordinating framelits. I finished the buttefly with black rhinestones. The pattern paper is from SU Cherry on top mounted onto black cardstock.  The sentiment is from SU Butterfly Basics.

As I had a few more butterflies cut out I created a couple more cards.

trio of watercolour butterflies

and to finish off today

Mr 17 has an 18th this weekend and needed a card. I coloured this Jane’s Doodles digital image some time ago with alcohol markers and he picked this for the card front.

IMG_6847 (472x640)

I finished off with Papersmooches Digits and numbers dies and mounted onto co ordinating cardstock.

I hope you have a great weekend planned.

This morning I have been marshaling at a walk-a-thon for Ms 10. Tomorrow we have only 2 games of netball (down from 4).  Ms 15 & Ms 19’s team is in the first preliminary final. To round out the weekend we have a few parties and the normal mum’s taxi service will be running.

Hope to be back soon with some more creations.

I have just committed myself to an Artisan Market in my local area. Will post details later.

Thanks for stopping

Crafting with Dragonflies pink…

Hello

I am attending an annual Fund raiser later this week for Cancer. A group of friends have been organising this for 8 years now. Generally a group of 50 or 60 women get together in one house for a luncheon which we all pay to attend, take a present, we then pay to receive another gift by another attendee and play lots of fun games to raise money for Cancer charities. Last year we also had a guest speaker.

I have made this tag using Papersmooches Hope stamp set, SU spiral flower die, sizzlits little leaves die and scalloped tag punch.

I am linking to the current challenge at Crafting with Dragonflies – Pink cards for Breast Cancer

I know I haven’t followed the rules strictly by creating a tag – so understand if I am disqualified thought I’d link up anyway.

Here is my wrapped gift – all ready for later in week!

I think this set is very fitting for the occasion.

All the best to Hilde in her journey.

Also pop over to

A bag and gift tag + Playing with Poppy Sketches

Hello

Happy Monday

I found a little time over the weekend to play with these two challenges

I love badgeCreate a bag and a gift tag

My entry

Gift bag (640x493)

I was inspired by Sam’s Extra massive bag at pootles.co.uk – although I have changed the dimensions a bit.

I used two pieces of SU brights cs 11″ x 12″ and scored both the same. Along the 11″ side at 2″ and 10″ and 12″ side at 1″ and 5″.

I folded the score lines. I then joined the sides, folded down the top and then folded in the bottom and secured. I cut a piece of cs to reinforce the base 6.5″ x 3.5″ and placed in the bottom of the bag with double sided tape. Next I punched holes in the top and threaded ribbon through to make the handles.  Finished bag size 7″W x  4″D x 8″ H.

I then made a co ordinating tag. I used the SU Scallop tag punch and whisper white cs and an off cut of the same patterned paper and a scallop border punch. I stamped SU label something with PTI Raspberry Fizz ink and used the hexagon punch. I created the mount with a small piece of matching cs (not sure of brand). Finished with ribbon.

gift tag (350x640)

The bag is the right size to hold some T2 tea for a present.

and

jane's doodles (455x640)

I made this card using Jane’s Doodles janesdoodles.blogspot.com free digital stamp. I coloured with alcohol markers (mostly Kaisercraft). I die cut using MFT Tags Stax and layered with violet cs. I popped this onto my card front which I had adhered some pink cs (brand unknown) and some gold coloured self adhesive ribbon I got from a stationery store. I added SU little leaves cut from gold glitter paper and a flower from MFT rolled flowers with a gold rhinestone. Finishing touches were ribbon, wink of stella followed by glossy accents and a few clear sequins.

It is nice a sunny here today so I managed to get a pic of the glittery image.

jane's doodles 2 (640x480)

There is still time to play along with both these challenges.

Thanks so much for taking a peek (and all your lovely comments).

Crafting with Dragonflies + ME + CAS

Hello there

Well school holidays are finished which means everyone is back to school and work.  We had a very busy second week of the holidays 2 trips to the Werribee zoo (one for night walk and the other for a special members only Eastern Barred Bandicoot talk) and the 3 girls and I went to see Wicked. I even got a little sewing time in one dance costume complete and I finished a quilt I started ages ago (see pic at the end of this post).

Anyway I have a card to share which I am linking up to these challenges

and

I took inspiration from the colours

IMG_5195 (640x427)

I used Mama Elephant no peeking and cozy christmas stamp sets stamped with Versfine Onyx Black. I coloured with SU markers adding a wink of stella and glossy accents to the present bows and the scarf. The wood panel is from an AC journal card.

I know these are Christmas Stamps sets but I think this works for a birthday.

Here are a couple of pics of that quilt

I used Stampin UP! fabric 3″ squares and some white from my stash for the border. The backing is a lemon cotton.
