A touch of Gatsby…

IMG_4680

Hello there

It has been a while since I created anything, unless you count the painting of the front picket fence! The occasions for cards since Christmas has been few and those we have had we have used a card from my stash with the exception of this card.  I have used a free stamp set coloured with markers and crayons. I added some glitter with Kindy Glitz and wink of stella. I also added the embellishments of a pre purchased flower, rhinestones and I used a banner punch to punch out the little banners from Glitter paper and Kaisercraft papers.  This was for a friend who recently celebrated her x1st birthday.

We meet at “New Mother’s Group” – a group set up by our Maternal Health Nurse when we had our first bubs – 18 years ago.  There are 5 Mums who have stayed in friendship since then.  Four of us had our second bubs together too, the 5th a year later.  It is great as we can bounce things from each other as we are going through the same experiences – even now when our eldest have reached the milestone 18, completed their VCE and are enrolling in University.

Other recent events

Since Christmas we have taken a trip to Yarrawonga with extended family. Mr M celebrated his 16th birthday, we went as a family to see the latest Hobbit movie to celebrate. Miss E has received her VCE results, been offered a place at Deakin University and enrolled.

Over the break I have read several books The Rosie Project (a book club read – which we all liked), Cross Stitch (or Outlander for those outside Aus), Life after Life and I have almost finished Dragonfly in Amber (second in the Outlander series – 6 more to go!).

This last week has seen a return to our routine with Miss A starting Year 4, Mr M  Year 11 and Miss S will start Year 9 tomorrow. Miss E doesn’t start until March. The swimming, dancing and basketball all start to return. Of course hubby and I have returned to work. I have been fortunate enough to obtain a second part time position at a local pre-school. I am hoping I will still have time to create, perhaps fewer creations (and posts) in the short term as things all settle.

Hi There…

Sorry not been a post for awhile.  I have been busy sewing dance costumes and dresses for the girls. Maybe I will share some pics later when I am finished. Any way on with my share for today.

This weeks challenge at the Lollipop Ladies is jubes with the added challenge of vintage.

I have taken my inspiration from the vintage more than the colour from the pic – although I have used a bit of red in the paper and the red pearls.

IMG_3780

I have used paper from Grace Taylor “vintage” along with kraft cardstock from SBB. The large flower and lace are from Kaisercraft the smaller flowers I had in my stash. The red pearls are from Bo Bunny. The main image is Flourishes kids at play stamped in PTI Kraft ink with a border punch down one edge.

A French Pastry Doily…

The Challenge at Flourishes this week is to use a doily.

Timeless-Tuesday-New-Logo

Here is my card.

IMG_3636

I have used Cheery Lynn French Pastry Die in black card stock mounted onto Basic Grey Indie Bloom paper. The image from Flourishes Kids at Play is stamped onto SU Card stock in black ink.

The flowers are die cut from scraps using MFT dies and finished with a black pearl. The ribbon and button are from my stash and the twine threaded through the button is from Hemptique.

Hope you have a great weekend planned!

Thanks for taking a peek.

Cheers

A little set…

I have used one of the newest sets from AnnaBelle Stamps Remember When  to make this little set of cards along with Flourishes In and Out You stamp set. I am putting these away for a friend who holds an annual fundraiser for cancer research each year.

IMG_3604

The first three follow the sketch from CAS(E) this sketch challenge this week – I will be linking up to the challenge

IMG_3606

I stamped each of the images with black ink and coloured with alcohol makers (a mix of Spectrum Noir and Kaisercraft Fusion markers). I then stamped a sentiment on each card front before attaching to the card base.

For the second three I have used the colours of the first three but in SU ink ( Real Red, So Saffron, Daffodil Delight, Pretty in PInk and Smoky Slate) and created background paper – I am linking up to Timeless Tuesdays Create your own background paper.

IMG_3607

I randomly stamped the single flower in SU real red and then masked the image in the flower pot and stamped with black ink, again randomly. I finished off with some red twine from Hemptique.

IMG_3609

This one I stamped first in so saffron then in daffodil delight and added the sentiment.

IMG_3608

And for this I stamped in pretty in pink then I used my smoky slate marker to colour the outline stamp. Once again the sentiment is from Flourishes In and Out.

Thanks for coming to visit. I love reading your comments.

Christmas…

IMG_3590I had help with this card from Miss A (8) we have used The Stamp Spot Washi tape #11, #31 and #56 and punched out using SU Delightful Decorations Punch to punch out the bauble shape. We stamped the bauble strings using SU tree trimmings stamp set. I thought it needed a light bling so added the sequins.

Miss A is totally obsessed with washi tape – she wants every roll she sees!

Going round in circles with a Flourish…

Hi There.

IMG_3568

I stamped my images from Flourishes Spring Blossom with versafine Onyx Black before colouring with my Spectrum Noir markers – mostly brights set. I also coloured a butterfly image from the Flourishes Old Tea Rose set and cut out. I die cut with a circle die and added to a scallop circle die cut. All this was fixed to a circle card base cut from the same circle die as the image.

I am linking this up to Flourishes Timeless Tuesday FTTC227 – I might just make this.

With a Flourish or two…

Happy Sunday everyone.

Sharing a couple of cards.

This first card I made using Flourishes Kids at Play and Annabelle Stamps Sentimental Bluebells “Happy Birthday” Sentiment.

IMG_3552

I started this card with a black card front. I cut the patterned paper from Cosmo Cricket Social Club just short of the amount I needed so I could trim and have my two black lines showing through. I then stamped my image using Versa fine Onyx Black on SBB kraft cardstock. I then used my distressing tool to sponge various inks onto my background. The sentiment was stamped onto a die cut scallop which I taped to the side of my image. Before I attached my image to the card front with foam tabs I felt it needed a little brightening up so I added some red cardstock from my scraps stash. I am linnking this upto the following challenges.

(I turned this sketch to the side)

My second card uses Flourishes Kids at Play and the sentiment is from Call me also by Flourishes stamped in SU Crumb Cake ink. I have CAS(E) this card from http://flourishes.org/2013/06/focus-on-the-beach-and-more-about-silke/

For my card I have used SBB Kraft Cardstock, October Afternoon Farmhouse 8 x 8 pad along with Kaisercraft lace, Sizzix SU stripe embossing folder, Annabelle Stamps Natural Hemp Dienamics Rolled rose and CC Designs Leafy Branch dies. The button, ribbon, pearls and yellow cardstock are from my stash.

Ahoy me hearties…

Sorry couldn’t help that.

This weeks challenge at the Lollipop Ladies is Pirate Lollipops and water.

I made this card using a digi image from http://madamebogg.blogspot.com.au/ coloured with markers along with stamps from Hero Arts and My Cute Stamps. Plus Heidi Grace patterned paper,  cardstock from my stash and Sizzix Woodgrain embossing folder.

IMG_3549

I tore the cardstock and layered before stamping my images onto the underwater scene. I stamped the shells and star fish onto scraps and cut out before adding to the water. The Pirate is standing on a piece of embossed woodgrain cardstock – like a part of a ship or a jetty. The sun is stamped and a punched circle added for the centre.

I was having fun so I made a second card.

IMG_3545

Using PTI Tremendous  Treats, My Cute Stamps – Fishy Fun and AnnaBelle Stamps Boy’s Party images. I have coloured the pirate with alcohol markers and Tim Holtz black soot.  I added some sparkle to my pirate with some glitter on his skull and cross.  I layered by using circle punches and popped up with foam tabs. The little boats are coloured with SU markers before being hand cut.

Garden Gate and Spring Blossom…

Hi Everyone.

Hope you had a wonderful weekend. Not a bad one here, the children had a  few good games. The  U9 Netball (Miss 8) and U16  (Mr 15) Basketball won, however the girls open team had a loss – they were up at 3/4 time – Miss 17 & Miss 13 play open Netball (same team).

I was lucky to get some new stamp sets from Flourishes by way of Moxie Fab World recently. I really like these images – they are great for colouring. I inked up the Garden Gate set and made this card.  I stamped the image onto water colour paper. I have coloured it using Stampin UP!, Tim Holtz and Marvey Le Plume markers. The cardstock is from Pebbles and I used Lifestyle Crafts circle dies. The button is from my stash with a little twine from the Twinery (blossom) added. I haven’t added a sentiment yet.

IMG_3543

And I made a second card using Flourishes Spring Blossom same cardstock.

IMG_3544

I used an Xcut Scallop Circle die and added a Stampin UP! Sizzix Butterfly with a little bling. I also added a little bling with clear and pink Spica pens – sorry they don’t show up in this pic. Perhaps I should have made the butterfly pink. I do like how this card came together.
