Collage, collage, collage…

TWIST venture into multi- media

(multimedia means using two or more mediums together: so paint and texture paste or glue and paper or seed beads and paste/glue or ribbon, flowers and paint……)

Random Number Prize

Collage (from the Frenchcoller, “to glue”;[ is a technique of an art production, primarily used in the visual arts, where the artwork is made from an assemblage of different forms, thus creating a new whole.

A collage may sometimes include magazine and newspaper clippingsribbonspaint, bits of colored or handmade papers, portions of other artwork or texts, photographs and other found objects, glued to a piece of paper or canvas. The origins of collage can be traced back hundreds of years, but this technique made a dramatic reappearance in the early 20th century as an art form of novelty.

The term collage was coined by both Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso in the beginning of the 20th century when collage became a distinctive part of modern art.

There are lots of examples on Pinterest if you want to waste a few hours!
Use the ‘collage in cards’ search for some simple examples

This one was out of my comfort zone. My creation is more on the side of multi media.  I think it still fits the collage brief.

I started by adding some colour to my texture paste.  This was added to a white mount and then a black mount and finally to my card front.  When the texture paste was dry I used the same spritz to add a few splashes of colour. I then added my die cuts, positioning until I was happy with the result.  The “DAD” is die cut from cork from the local craft store the tools are die cut in a bronze shiny paper from my stash along with a contrasting black cardstock.

I hope to see you in the challenge.

Cheers

Just hatched and more English Country Garden…

Hello

I’m back as planned.

Ms E’s manager is leaving the store to go to another store. She asked me to make her a Good bye/Good luck card.  As it has “wings” I am linking up to the current challenge at Uniko Studios here.

Here is my card.

Good luck

I used Uniko English Country Garden stamped onto vellum and coloured with Tim Holtz and SU markers. The die cut strip is from Kaisercraft film strip. The sentiment is from PTI Mega Mixed Messages stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

The second card I have to share is also for Ms E’s manager. She is also expecting her first baby later in the year and as Ms E is unlikely to see her she wanted to gift her a little something. This also has “wings”.

I made the card base using Lifestyle Crafts Peppermint Page die (8cm x 8.5cm). The image from ME Just hatched is stamped onto x press it blending cardstock and coloured with alcohol markers. The sentiment if from the same set stamped in versafine onyx black ink. The co ordinating dies were used to cut the egg.

To go with this I knitted up a little pair of shoes using Patons Big Baby 4ply yarn and the garter stitch bootees pattern which came with the pack.  Sorry  I couldn’t find a link anywhere on the web!

Thanks for stopping
