A little colouring…

Hello

Hubby needed a card for his boss’s birthday.  And as is normal for my family he requested certain elements.

I didn’t feel I had what he requested in my stash of stamps.  I know how is that possible? Anyway I decided to search for an appropriate digi image.  Of course I have used the image but have some how not saved the original source.  If this is yours thank you and I’m sorry for not saving your details.  Please let me know and I will include a link.

this oneHere is my card

I’m not sure it was funny enough without going over the line – there was no feedback from hubby.  The story in it’s creation is funny, now.

The image is printed on xpress it cardstock and coloured with alcohol markers. The remaining cardstock is from SU and the sentiment is from PTI Birthday Bash. The coloured image is popped up with foam tape.

I had the image almost fully coloured and all the cardstock cut  and positioned on my workspace and the sentiment stamp ready to stamp.  All organised to finish when I returned from work.  UM 10 minutes before I needed to leave for work I looked – no stamp! Where had it gone. Not on the floor? Not in my diary? Not on my clothes (yes I made Ms 11 check!) Where? I wanted to pull the place apart looking.  I had to go to work.  I even rang Mr M (18) from work and asked him to look for it. As soon as I got home I started the search. I had to retrace my morning steps. The little thing had attached itself to the plastic envelope I keep my colour chart in and was at the back of the shelf cause I had put the envelope away.  Mr M would never have found that.  Do these things happen to other people and drive you just a little silly! or is it just me?  Looking on the bright side for a set I have had for a while and used a fair amount it has kept its stick 🙂

On another note the girl’s netball team won today.  They have lost every game this season and there is only 2 games left to play.  It was awesome. The girls are second from the bottom and they won against the top team – 11 teams.  Some of the girls have gone out (a birthday party) but I’m pretty sure they are going to celebrate like it was a grand final victory.

Until next time

Cheers

Darth Vader meets the Avengers…

Hello

For some reason my birthdays seem to come in batches!

This week we have 3 birthdays over 2 days.

Starting yesterday with Ms 16’s Boyfriend’s 16th birthday – yes she is older by 5 or 6 weeks!

He likes Star Wars – so much that he couldn’t wait until Christmas for his gift (a star wars t shirt & bag) because he wanted to wear it to the midnight screening of the new movie.

So after lots of googling this is what we decided on. We were inspired by this card here.

Some punch art with a simple stamped greeting from The Paper company Birthday stamp set. The whole darth vader image is popped up with foam tape.

I am linking this to the current challenge at The Sisterhood of Crafters here – something old, something new

All the punches used are old, as is the stamp set – the new are enamel dots.

ARE YOU OUR STEP SISTER?

Two more Birthdays today

Today is a double birthday – my friend’s daughter is 16 and Mr M turns 18.

Mr M is a huge Marvel Avengers fan along with Dr Who and Star Wars. As I made the Darth Vader card for Ms S’s boyfriend and I have made him a Dr who inspired card here and here in the past it was time for a Marvel inspired card. Again lots of googling!

Thanks to these sites here and here for inspiration

I used A4 cardstock and cut to 10.5 cm and scored at 10.5 cm intervals to create a concertina card and added additional “pages” until I had the number I needed.

This is the inside of the card

left to right

Captain America, the Hulk, Thor, Iron man and the Black Widow (my version needs a little work she needs to be a little slimmer!)

To make the card front I used SU – Number of Years stamp and die set along with PTI Birthday Bash stamp set stamped with SU Real Red and Night of Navy ink and cardstock. I cut the numbers from fun foam to help raise them off the card front – this is so much easier than using multiple layers of cardstock. I have used lots of punches and dies to create the characters within the card. Some of these didn’t come out as expected, I am just going with it! I know the green arrow is missing and also hawk eye – maybe another time?

Ms 11 has put in a request for a card like this for her next birthday with little pet shop as the theme – in December!

and the final card for today

Once again I have used the SU Number of Years stamp set and die and used fun foam die cut to add dimension.  I also used Inspired by stamping spring lilacs ribbon collection. Colours are SU very vanilla, perfect plum, so saffron and early espresso stamped off onto scrap first as I thought it may be too dark for this card.

This is the quilt I made for my friend’s daughter

Siobhan's Quilt (1) (521x640)

Another disappearing nine patch. Quilted in the ditch around the 1/4 squares of the original nine patch. Quilt measures 130 cm x 160 cm .  It consists of 8 fabrics cut into 180 5″ squares in the blocks plus backing fabric (plain white) and black cotton binding fabric.  When I decided to make this quilt her colour preference was mauve and a French theme.  I have spent a few months collecting the fabrics, who knew mauve wasn’t such a “big” colour and “French theme” isn’t so big either. I can bet next time I go into a fabric store both those themes will be everywhere. One of the fabrics has French words, the Eiffel Tower, lace and other images and is also mauve so that had to be included.  I’m hoping her taste hasn’t changed significantly and she will use this for a few years.

Sorry for such a mammoth post

Thanks for hanging in til the end

Until next time

Cheers

Vicki

Stars and Trains …

Hello

I have a few things to share today.

Ms 10 helped me last week sort through my stash and we found a few gaps. Mainly due to the fact I make as I need. So I have been making a couple of things over the last few days to fill those gaps.

And doing so I am linking up to a few challenges as well

This first card I made in two colour ways using a range of stars from Annabelle Stamps Boy’s Party, Uniko Balloon Bash, Inspired by Stamping Build a Stocking, Papertrey Ink Star Prints and sentiment from Papertrey Ink.

and the next card I am linking up to the challenge at Scrapbook Boutique here

I stamped my image from Stamp It and mounted onto chocolate coloured card stock. The pattern paper is from a Kaisercraft pad along with the tag I stamped the sentiment on. The sentiment is from PTI World’s Greatest.

I also have a little update on my jumper.

The pattern I am using can be found here  and here.

I am knitting in Bendigo Woollen Mills Athena yarn I purchased last year. It is lovely and soft.

Thank you for getting all the way here.

It is a long post today.

Happy Birthday with PTI…

It is one of my nephews 16th Birthday in the next few days. I made this card using PTI Boy Basics Game on stamped with black ink and SU Tangerine Tango and the sentiment is from PTI Birthday Bash. I used washi tape TSS #13 and another I picked up from a craft show. I used hemp twine to make the game control and popped it up with a foam tab.

Dr Who

How is everyone going? Feels so long since I have made anything. Had a few days away with the family and extended family after Christmas. Then I had a few days home without the family. Perfect time for some uninterrupted crafting I hear you say.  Oh but I spent the time working – small breaks away from the desk but mostly working.

IMG_2979

Just sharing a card I have made for Mr M who turns 15 on the 15th.

He is a huge Dr Who fan. So when I came across this free digi at MayzyArt – mayzyartfree.blogspot.com.au recently I just had to use it for his Birthday card.

What do you think?

Miss A (8) came to give her approval – at her suggestion I added some clear spica pen to the top of the tardis and the sonic screwdriver. Not sure if you can see it in the pic.

I will link this up to the following challenges

http://stampwithsarahkay.blogspot.com.au/ – blue and white

http://pennyschallenges.blogspot.com.au/ – anything goes

http://jensdigis.blogspot.com.au/2013/01/lets-celebrate-challenge.html – Birthday

http://divasbydesignchallenge.blogspot.com.au/2013/01/anything-goes.html – anything goes

I hope if you are in any of the fire zones you have managed to stay safe.

I hope to be back soon.

Cheers

Cas(E) week #2…

I have used The Craft’s Meow – Good times with SU Ink and PTI Birthday Bash Sentiments. It seriously took me longer to decide which stamp to use and colour ink than it did to make this card!

I apologise for the poor quality photography (worse than I usually take!) – having a few technical issues here and I got my daughter to take this pic on her iPad so I could make the time.

Cheers
