A little update on what I’ve been upto

Just thought I would pop in and share a few recent finished projects before I start the next one!

A bunch of finished cards – I had coloured for what seemed like ages so it was good to colour again.

A finished quilt as you go upcycled HST shirt quilt

and the reverse.

I love the extra texture with more quilting lines.

One sock down! However I have developed second sock syndrome 😉
A special 80th Birthday card for a special lady from my Days for Girls Group who had a birthday last week. With the news today she will be able to celebrate now.
Pirate pants made from a singlet top. The mum wanted some pants to make a complete outfit and with shops closed the only matching fabric was a singlet!
In this pic bub is wearing a cloth nappy, is 4 weeks old and around 3.8kg.

and of course a matching head band!

Until next time

After a very long time on the needles this is finished!

This is a throw or afghan for my eldest daughter.  It measures 156 cm x 212 cm.  Now to say I was over it by the time I finished would be an understatement!

You can find the pattern here Bold and Stripy Afghan.

Miss A (14) has also requested a throw.  She has picked the pattern and I have enough yarn from Miss S’s throw earlier in the year – overestimated how much I needed!  I just need a little break before tackling another big project.

I also finished my socks 🧦.

I am really pleased how the stripes are pretty spot on.  This yarn is so clever.

Looking forward to wearing them.  Miss A is modelling for me in the pic above.

I have been using up some bits and pieces on little Premmie hats. One of the lovely ladies from my knitting group is going to pass them onto a local hospital. As a side I am so inspired by this lady. She is 99 (100 next January) still lives independently doing her own shopping, cooking etc and going to the footy! plus a very active member of several community groups. She doesn’t have glasses, hearing aid or walking stick. If I’m lucky enough to be as well as she is I might make a dent in my stash!! 😉

I have used a couple of different patterns for these the link to the smaller one is. here.

I have one more on the needles.  I might try and finish a few more before mid week.  I do have a few card requests on my to do list I need to get onto.

That’s all for today

A few things I’ve been up to…

Boy time does get away! Thought I would pop in and share a few of the projects I have been working on.

Firstly a throw for my eldest daughter from stash yarn.  You can find the pattern here.  The grey is left over from the throw I made earlier this year here

Second up is another knit project.  I purchased this yarn a few weeks ago whilst on a girls weekend in Healseville from Crumbz Craft.  Amazing already on the needles! A nice pair of socks for me using a simply sock pattern here.

Lastly 2 quilts I have completed from repurposed shirts. These are for a fundraiser next week.  I have 4 other quilt tops made not yet basted and quilted!

This first one is 2.5″ fabric stripes cut and recut into grid pattern.  Borders are also 2.5″.  This has cotton batting and the backing was gifted.  The binding is also from repurposed shirt fabric. Quilt measures 101 cm x 86.5 cm.

The next two photos are of a 5″ square quilt backed with gifted silky fabric.  Again I used repurposed shirts for the binding.  Pieced in  strip  and  recut, sewn  again into  9 piece blocks.  Blocks  laid  out  and  sewn  together.  Quilt  measures  115cm  x 138cm

Party Animal for a 20th…

If you live around my part of the world I hope you are managing with the extremes of weather we have been having. Cold one day hot the next! We wouldn’t like it any other way.

Anyway I have a few things to share

ABS Party Animals (487x640)

This is a card I have made by request from my eldest daughter.  I used Annabelle Stamps Party Animals and coloured with markers (SU and Tim Holtz), layered and mounted on to my card front.  I die cut the “20” using Memory box classic numbers die and a second time with fun foam. A touch of glossy accents to finish off.  The recipient of this card is after a new puppy!

I am linking this up to the 30 Day colouring challenge here

This is my second card for the challenge. I hope to have one or two more to share before the end of the challenge.

It has been particularly busy. Mr M has his last day of formal classes on Friday and we are then off to Graduation dinner. Then it is a little study time before the exams start.  As his year is coming to an end mine is getting busier. As a pre school enrolment officer it is busy finalising numbers and groups for 2016.

A little knitting share

Not just socks - for Kaitlin 2015 (640x478)These were made using Moda Vera not just socks yarn and the pattern on the back of the ball band. These were requested by Ms E as a gift for a friend later this month.

This is my very first pair of socks. I shared these with my Wednesday group today and some thought I had been very clever and changed the wool to create the pattern. I must admit the wool is varigated and knits up to this pattern.

and these

Hermione s Everyday socks - Tash (640x478)

These are a work in progress. I have used this pattern – Hermione’s Everyday socks which can be found on ravelry as a free download here. Thank you to Erica Leuder. I have also used the notes from here thank you.

I was requested to have this pair finished by this coming Friday as a gift for one of Ms E’s friends. Unfortunately I wont make that deadline. I work tomorrow and then I have a meeting for my enrolment officer job tomorrow night.

I will come back and share when they are complete.

Two more pics before I go

orchid 2 (520x640)

orchid 3 (478x640)

These are pics of the only orchid I kept of my Mum’s after she passed.  It has flowered every year I have had it and I don’t do anything special to it and hardly remember to water it. It normally sits under a tree near the fence!
