Some simple balloons…

Hello

Another busy week.

Today I am sharing a card for one of the upcoming parties we have. I am linking it up to the following challenges (click on the pics to take you to the sites).

and here is my card

TCTC feb 2016 (533x640)

A simple card.  I stamped the first balloon from SU Celebrate Today onto whisper white cardstock in night of navy ink.  I added die cut balloons in crushed curry and paper from everyday chic where I coloured a few hearts with hello honey marker. I drew the balloon ribbons with a marker before adding to crushed curry cardstock and adhering the piece to my card front.  The sentiment is from Endless birthday wishes.

Thanks for stopping

Enjoy your weekend

Spring Planter Box…

Hello

After my not following the rules for The Colour Tree Challenge I decided to have another go.  I also have no excuses for not having a go at the Spring Planter Box tutorial Bronwyn kindly gave all participants from Challenge #1.

This will be given to a friend who had a birthday last week – late I know but we wont see each other til next week so all OK.

I have used the correct colours this time for the challenge at TCTC #4 here

spring planter box 1 (594x640)

Instead of stamping with the hardwood stamp set I inked up my Sizzix Woodgrain embossing folder with crumb cake ink (an allowable neutral I think) and embossed the pieces.  I also substituted in Sizzlits Little leaves die which I used to make the leaves from Pool Party Cardstock.  I created the flowers on calypso coral and daffodil delight cardstock with calypso coral marker and daffodil delight ink.  I used SU Petite Petals and SU Flower shop stamp sets. I created the little Happy Birthday tag using SU Endless Birthday Wishes stamp set stamped in tip top taupe and die cut with Tag and Labels Framelits on very vanilla cardstock.  The twine is white Baker’s twin.  I die cut the butterflies using Bold Butterflies Framelits.

What I love + Endless Birthday wishes…

Hello

Popping in with this card which I am linking up to the current challenge at The Colour Tree here

and

Uniko – Anything Goes Challenge here

and

Seize the Birthday here

I had all the best intentions to make this earlier in the week.

IMG_7260 (640x438)

I have used SU What I love and Endless Birthday wishes stamped with SU Rose Red, Garden Green and Blushing Bride ink.  For the 3 step flower I used Rose red stamped off first to get a third colour/shade of pink. I fussy cut 3 flowers and popped them up with foam tape. To colour the leaves I swiped some garden green ink onto my craft sheet and picked up the colour with a blender pen.  The card base is crumb cake mounted with blushing bride and very vanilla.  To finish I added sequins from my stash (you know a small bag from the local trimmings shop is going to last me a lifetime!)

IMG_7259 (640x429)

Hoping the weather clears as we are planning a trip to Werribee Zoo twilights.

Last few days before school holidays finish.  Hubby has been back to work most days, you wouldn’t believe he was on school holidays and I worked one day this week from home.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend

Thanks for stopping

Darth Vader meets the Avengers…

Hello

For some reason my birthdays seem to come in batches!

This week we have 3 birthdays over 2 days.

Starting yesterday with Ms 16’s Boyfriend’s 16th birthday – yes she is older by 5 or 6 weeks!

He likes Star Wars – so much that he couldn’t wait until Christmas for his gift (a star wars t shirt & bag) because he wanted to wear it to the midnight screening of the new movie.

So after lots of googling this is what we decided on. We were inspired by this card here.

IMG_7142 (540x640)

Some punch art with a simple stamped greeting from The Paper company Birthday stamp set. The whole darth vader image is popped up with foam tape.

I am linking this to the current challenge at The Sisterhood of Crafters here – something old, something new

All the punches used are old, as is the stamp set – the new are enamel dots.

ARE YOU OUR STEP SISTER?

Two more Birthdays today

Today is a double birthday – my friend’s daughter is 16 and Mr M turns 18.

Mr M is a huge Marvel Avengers fan along with Dr Who and Star Wars. As I made the Darth Vader card for Ms S’s boyfriend and I have made him a Dr who inspired card here and here in the past it was time for a Marvel inspired card. Again lots of googling!

Thanks to these sites here and here for inspiration

IMG_7144 (640x591)

I used A4 cardstock and cut to 10.5 cm and scored at 10.5 cm intervals to create a concertina card and added additional “pages” until I had the number I needed.

This is the inside of the card

IMG_7145 (640x208)

left to right

Captain America, the Hulk, Thor, Iron man and the Black Widow (my version needs a little work she needs to be a little slimmer!)

I am linking this card up to the challenge at the Male Room here

To make the card front I used SU – Number of Years stamp and die set along with PTI Birthday Bash stamp set stamped with SU Real Red and Night of Navy ink and cardstock. I cut the numbers from fun foam to help raise them off the card front – this is so much easier than using multiple layers of cardstock. I have used lots of punches and dies to create the characters within the card. Some of these didn’t come out as expected, I am just going with it! I know the green arrow is missing and also hawk eye – maybe another time?

Ms 11 has put in a request for a card like this for her next birthday with little pet shop as the theme – in December!

and the final card for today

IMG_7143 (492x640)

Once again I have used the SU Number of Years stamp set and die and used fun foam die cut to add dimension.  I also used Inspired by stamping spring lilacs ribbon collection. Colours are SU very vanilla, perfect plum, so saffron and early espresso stamped off onto scrap first as I thought it may be too dark for this card.

This is the quilt I made for my friend’s daughter

Siobhan's Quilt (1) (521x640)

Another disappearing nine patch. Quilted in the ditch around the 1/4 squares of the original nine patch. Quilt measures 130 cm x 160 cm .  It consists of 8 fabrics cut into 180 5″ squares in the blocks plus backing fabric (plain white) and black cotton binding fabric.  When I decided to make this quilt her colour preference was mauve and a French theme.  I have spent a few months collecting the fabrics, who knew mauve wasn’t such a “big” colour and “French theme” isn’t so big either. I can bet next time I go into a fabric store both those themes will be everywhere. One of the fabrics has French words, the Eiffel Tower, lace and other images and is also mauve so that had to be included.  I’m hoping her taste hasn’t changed significantly and she will use this for a few years.

Sorry for such a mammoth post

Thanks for hanging in til the end

Until next time

Cheers

Happy New Year…

Hello

Happy 2016

I hope you have had a wonderful festive season and a great start to the new year.

All the Christmas prep was completed just in time.

IMG_7091 (640x359)

and

IMG_7093 (640x427)

I applogise these photos were taken really late on Christmas Eve.  The gingerbread house was being held until the icing set with some cooking twine – which was removed just before serving on Christmas day. I had a small disaster with the first batch of gingerbread I made was to soft and I had a rather large wall cave in. I couldn’t save it (which my kiddos were very happy about!) so after some googling I found a new recipe here and made a new one Christmas Eve. Miss 11 and I decorated 2 cakes, one for Christmas day and one for later. The little santas you see were inspired by Judy May here. A few weeks before Christmas a couple of friends came over and we made about 100 of these. 50 of these went with my friend just before Christmas to an orphanage in Cambodia she established a charity for.  The children really loved them from the pics she has sent me.

IMG_7081 (590x640)

I did finish the engagement card I needed for my hubby’s nephew. Images are from Flourishes wedded bliss stamped in tip top taupe and finished with ribbon and lace from my stash.

So what have I been doing since the fat man arrived?

After the post Christmas sales – yes more shopping, Mr almost 18 needed a birthday present for 15th January and the girls had birthday money & vouchers which “needed” to be spent i.e. were burning a hole in their pockets!

I have started the quilt I mentioned in the last post. Top all done ready for backing, basting and machine quilting. Should have time to complete before the birthday next week. Will share when finished.

In the last week we have spent some time away in Yarrawonga with a couple of hubby’s brothers and some of their children.

I couldn’t go past the quilt shop without stopping and making a small purchase. I’m hoping I have some fabrics in my stash that will go with this.

IMG_7140 (640x400)

A great opportunity while away to read a book (the Nightingale – Kristin Hannah)  and start another one (Written in my own hearts blood – Diana Gabaldon).  I also got a little knitting done, nothing finished though.

IMG_7137 (640x497)

Step Hem Jumper from Patons Women’s Merino Collection here or  here is a link to my ravelry page using Bendigo Woollen Mills Milk Way yarn. I have put this on hold to start a summer t-shirt.

and

IMG_7141 (640x341)

Mint tee Knit T-Shirt by Purl Soho pattern here or on my ravelry page here using Bendigo Woollen Mills 100% Bamboo in 4ply.
I haven’t made a resolution as such, but I do intend to make a dent in my fabric, paper and wool stashes over the next few months. I have pinned so many projects and have a large stash of goodies I simply must knit, sew, stamp and colour! So once all the post Christmas end of school year tidy up is done I hope to make a good start.
Until next time
Thanks for stopping

Celebrating 20 years…

Hello

I’m back today to share the last of my December Birthdays

My eldest turned 20 on 7th December.  We celebrated by having a toy story movie marathon (because toy story was also 20 on 7th December), food and a sleep over from 2pm Monday until 3.30 Tuesday! I went to work leaving the kiddos to it. I returned to a nice clean house and all the friends who had stayed over had gone.  Mr M washed the floor and Ms S did all the dishes and put away the mattresses to name a few of the chores.

Here are a few pics from the last few days

Ms E’s birthday card

Halfway…

Hello

Sharing the last requested card by Ms E.

If you have been following you may remember she gave me a list of cards to be made with specific instructions including stamp sets and colours. Well this one came with the added extra of including a very specific sentiment! As you may guess the recipient has a great sense of humour!

I am linking this up to the monthly challenge at Scrapbook Boutique here

Here is my card

papersmooches chubby chums (640x482)

I have used Papersmooches chubby chums (requested a cow!), Uniko Garlands Galore (the sentiment reads “halfway to 40!) and My cute stamps Owlways friends. I used SU smoky slate, old olive and real red inks & cardstock. I finished the chubby cow with some glossy accents and goggly eyes.

Hope you have some great plans for the weekend. I do.

First I need to complete start our tax returns – I know I only have 8 days! Now if I am good I will get Sunday to go to the craft show at Caulfield Racecourse. So you see I have an incentive to get a good start on those tax returns.

Until next time

Cheers

A butterfly or two…

Hello

If you haven’t heard the Crafting with Dragonflies challenge blog is back.

First challenge can be found here

I love badge

I am happy to hear Hilde is upto running this again.

It was a little prompt for me to get some butterflies who have been sitting on my workspace onto a card!

So while I was linking up to this challenge I will also link up to the Stamp Ink  Paper Challenge here

SIP Any Challenge 8

I stamped these butterflies a couple of weeks ago and that was as far as I got. I have been busy knitting and haven’t got back to my workspace.

watercolour butterflies

I started with a whisper white thick card base. The butterflies are stamped from SU Watercolor Wings in crushed curry marker, daffodil delight ink and memento tuxedo black ink onto a scrap of whisper white cardstock.

I then die cut with the co ordinating framelits. I finished the buttefly with black rhinestones. The pattern paper is from SU Cherry on top mounted onto black cardstock.  The sentiment is from SU Butterfly Basics.

As I had a few more butterflies cut out I created a couple more cards.

trio of watercolour butterflies

and to finish off today

Mr 17 has an 18th this weekend and needed a card. I coloured this Jane’s Doodles digital image some time ago with alcohol markers and he picked this for the card front.

IMG_6847 (472x640)

I finished off with Papersmooches Digits and numbers dies and mounted onto co ordinating cardstock.

I hope you have a great weekend planned.

This morning I have been marshaling at a walk-a-thon for Ms 10. Tomorrow we have only 2 games of netball (down from 4).  Ms 15 & Ms 19’s team is in the first preliminary final. To round out the weekend we have a few parties and the normal mum’s taxi service will be running.

Hope to be back soon with some more creations.

I have just committed myself to an Artisan Market in my local area. Will post details later.

Thanks for stopping

Cheers

Uniko Flower power…

Hello

Today I am sharing a card I have made using Uniko Flower Power #6 & #7 combined with at sentiment from SSS.

I am linking up to the current challenges at

Virginia’s View here

and

Stamp Ink Paper Challenge #4 here

AT Inspiration Challenge 4

and

Loves Rubber Stamps challenge #159 here

Loves Rubberstamps Blog Challenges

Here is my card

Uniko flower power (640x456)

I used the two Uniko sets with SU inks in Soft Sky, Baja Breeze, Pink Pirouette, Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery and So Saffron.  I stamped the full images than the outline in a slightly darker ink mostly off centre. When complete I stamped the sentiment from Simon Says Stamp It’s your birthday stamp set in memento tuxedo black ink. I mounted onto Pink Pirouette cardstock and attached to my card front. I card for my stash.

I also have a few tags I made using Uniko Flower Power and Mama Elephant stitched tag die from the basic set.

I used sentiments from Uniko Flower power #2 along with images from Flower Power #1 and #5 and Background Builders Flower Power.

This tag used background builders stamped with Bermuda Bay ink 3 times

tag 1 (640x479)

This tag used image from Flower Power #5 stamped with SU Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil delight ink

tag 3 (640x389)

The last tag used SU Night of Navy and Real Red ink and an image from Flower Power #1

tag 2 (640x340)

These were all fairly quick. As it is school holidays I have been a little busy with Museum, Scienceworks and zoo trips plus having the children’s friends over. It is a different type of busy to the normal school term which starts back on Monday.

I hope to share some more soon. The 3 girls have gone out with their Dad and Mr 17 is studying so that means I get a little uninterrupted play time with some new toys.

Cheers

Balloons…

Hello

Today’s card I am linking up to the current challenge at Inspired by Stamping here and the customer gallery.

I followed this sketch

IBSIC95---July-Sketch, Inspired by Stamping

Here is my card

IBS celebrating 2 years (640x475)

I started by printing some IBS digital paper which was in the latest newsletter.  I think one of the colours in my printer wasn’t right – my paper is more green than the newsletter sample.  I am sorry Joanna if this isn’t how you intended the colours to look.  Anyway I used the paper I printed.  It seemed to co ordinate really well with SU Pool party cardstock and coastal cabana ribbon.  I used Mama Elephant Sew Fancy stitched circle die and Lifestyle crafts nested circle dies for the die cut circles. I used SU Pool party, Bermuda bay, Night of Navy and Baked Brown sugar inks to stamp the images from Inspired by stamping Celebrating 2 years. I finished the card off with a little die cut from SU Balloon Framelits.

Thanks for stopping
