The challenge this month is…….

#117: November: Colour my World

TWIST: make it colourful

This is quite an open theme – it can be about someone colouring your world, or about something colourful in your world or about colour -what is your favorite?

As Christmas is almost here I have made a colourful Christmas card. I die cut 5 trees from bright cardstock and used glitter paper to die cut the sentiment. The trees are finished with a silver die cut star.

I am also linking up to the challenge at Christmas Card Throwdown

Hope you can join in the challenge

Until time

Cheers

Recent makes…

Hello

Just popping in to share a few recent requested card makes for a friend.

An Elsa inspired card I totally CASEd from here. Thanks Lyssa. I did make one modification I used Uniquely creative stitched dies to get the curves of the dress. Those dies aren’t just for landscapes!

I also made my own shimmer spray mixing Isopropyl alcohol and shimmer paint in a spray bottle.

The next couple of cards seem to be frequent repeats!

I did consider not sharing even though they are new makes they are layouts I have used many times before! Funny I don’t really like mass producing – made 10 of one card as an invitation once and that was a struggle! However going back to making a card that seemed to work doesn’t seem to be an issue! Especially if it is for a friend and I can show them a pic before I start.

Do you ever go back and make a card again?

Sadly we were in need of a sympathy card this week.

Once again I have gone for simple white die cuts with liquid pearl centres and a simple sentiment from Avery Elle – stamp and die cut.

I have an outrageously large pile of NBUS to play with before more new play things arrive 🙂 My dilema what to play with first!

In the meantime I plan to do a little reading – Bridgerton the Duke and I – while I continue knitting a Weir for myself.

Thanks for stopping

Cheers

Vicki

Head over to the challenge blog for more details and to see the prize
I have created a little card using my Lifestyle crafts nesting lace squares. I have adhered the main piece to a note card 7.5 cm x 7.5 cm.
To create the front of my card I used brand new (as I only picked them up from the post box Saturday!) SU Botanical Tags die along with angled tag punch, bird builder punch and sentiment from mini treat bag thinlits.  The pattern paper is old SU have a cuppa and other papers are crushed curry, old olive and chocolate chip. Various pieces were popped up with foam tabs.
Here is another pic

I have a growing tub of NBUS so I must find some time to play and share with you.

Hope you find time to play in the challenge – remember no stamps! That can be a challenge in itself sometimes.

Until next time

Cheers

RED, BLUE and YELLOW
Guess what?  This month’s challenge is:
 It’s all about the cake….
TWIST use mainly the primary colours
RED, YELLOW and BLUE!

This is the random number prize – an embossing folderI created 3 cupcakes using PTI cupcake die and red, yellow & blue CS along with some Kraft cardstock for the cupcake wrappers.  The wrappers I ran through SU stripes embossing folder.  For some sparkle I used some washi tape before adding my card front to my card base.  I used a die cut sentiment from SU Mini treat bag dies – remember no stamps.  I popped all the cupcakes onto the card front with foam tabs.  To finish off I used some wink of stella and some glossy accents. Love the sparkle.

Hope to see you in the gallery.

Until next time thanks for visiting

Cheers

Darth Vader meets the Avengers…

Hello

For some reason my birthdays seem to come in batches!

This week we have 3 birthdays over 2 days.

Starting yesterday with Ms 16’s Boyfriend’s 16th birthday – yes she is older by 5 or 6 weeks!

He likes Star Wars – so much that he couldn’t wait until Christmas for his gift (a star wars t shirt & bag) because he wanted to wear it to the midnight screening of the new movie.

So after lots of googling this is what we decided on. We were inspired by this card here.

Some punch art with a simple stamped greeting from The Paper company Birthday stamp set. The whole darth vader image is popped up with foam tape.

I am linking this to the current challenge at The Sisterhood of Crafters here – something old, something new

All the punches used are old, as is the stamp set – the new are enamel dots.

ARE YOU OUR STEP SISTER?

Two more Birthdays today

Today is a double birthday – my friend’s daughter is 16 and Mr M turns 18.

Mr M is a huge Marvel Avengers fan along with Dr Who and Star Wars. As I made the Darth Vader card for Ms S’s boyfriend and I have made him a Dr who inspired card here and here in the past it was time for a Marvel inspired card. Again lots of googling!

Thanks to these sites here and here for inspiration

I used A4 cardstock and cut to 10.5 cm and scored at 10.5 cm intervals to create a concertina card and added additional “pages” until I had the number I needed.

This is the inside of the card

left to right

Captain America, the Hulk, Thor, Iron man and the Black Widow (my version needs a little work she needs to be a little slimmer!)

I am linking this card up to the challenge at the Male Room here

To make the card front I used SU – Number of Years stamp and die set along with PTI Birthday Bash stamp set stamped with SU Real Red and Night of Navy ink and cardstock. I cut the numbers from fun foam to help raise them off the card front – this is so much easier than using multiple layers of cardstock. I have used lots of punches and dies to create the characters within the card. Some of these didn’t come out as expected, I am just going with it! I know the green arrow is missing and also hawk eye – maybe another time?

Ms 11 has put in a request for a card like this for her next birthday with little pet shop as the theme – in December!

and the final card for today

IMG_7143 (492x640)

Once again I have used the SU Number of Years stamp set and die and used fun foam die cut to add dimension.  I also used Inspired by stamping spring lilacs ribbon collection. Colours are SU very vanilla, perfect plum, so saffron and early espresso stamped off onto scrap first as I thought it may be too dark for this card.

This is the quilt I made for my friend’s daughter

Siobhan's Quilt (1) (521x640)

Another disappearing nine patch. Quilted in the ditch around the 1/4 squares of the original nine patch. Quilt measures 130 cm x 160 cm .  It consists of 8 fabrics cut into 180 5″ squares in the blocks plus backing fabric (plain white) and black cotton binding fabric.  When I decided to make this quilt her colour preference was mauve and a French theme.  I have spent a few months collecting the fabrics, who knew mauve wasn’t such a “big” colour and “French theme” isn’t so big either. I can bet next time I go into a fabric store both those themes will be everywhere. One of the fabrics has French words, the Eiffel Tower, lace and other images and is also mauve so that had to be included.  I’m hoping her taste hasn’t changed significantly and she will use this for a few years.

Sorry for such a mammoth post

Thanks for hanging in til the end

Until next time

Cheers

Vicki
