This weeks requests…

Hello

This week one of the kiddos requested a Harry Potter inspired card.

I CASed this card from here

I free hand drew the hair and the scar before cutting out. I used SU Celebrate today for the “happy” and Number of Years for the “st”.  The die cut numbers are from Papersmooches popped up with foam tabs.  The glasses were made with circle punches and a strip of cs.

And for another 21st

A quick and easy card along with a personalised envelope.   The envelope was large enough for the personalised luggage tag and gift card and the card.  I CASed the envelope from here

And my last share for today is Ms A’s request. Ms A chose all the elements including the card base.  For my regular readers you wont be surprised she was very specific about what colour papers had to go where!

Thats all for today

Thanks for stopping by

Cheers

Vicki

What have I been upto?…

Hello

Well we are nearly to the end of the school holidays and I have not been as productive as I would have liked!

I have a long list of projects and I am not ticking them off fast enough! Sound like anyone else?

I have finished these

Perfect fit socks you can find the pattern here

and started this

Been working on this

And a couple of cards for a friend in my knitting group.

I used SU Number of Years stamps and dies.

I have my Easter baskets/boxes to make. On the to do list for today.

For my last birthday a few months back my kiddos gave me 2 close up encounters at Melbourne Zoo.  I chose Giraffe and Squirrel Monkey.  So yesterday hubby, myself, 4 kiddos + Ms S’s boyfriend all spent the day at the zoo so hubby and I could enjoy the encounters.  Yes the kiddos all had to watch from the other side of the fence!  You aren’t allowed to pat them just “stand like a tree”.  They just sit on your arms nibbling their treats.  We did get to give the Giraffe lettuce leaves.  You stand on a platform and they come to you to grab the leaves in their long tongues.  This was over all too fast!

Hope you all have a lovely Easter (if you celebrate the occasion) and you get a little spoilt with yummy goodies.

Until next time

Cheers

A Birthday card or 3…

Hello

Hope all your Christmas prep is well underway.  No. Mine either! I’ve been busy with other events my December babes and all the things that go with the end of year.  I find I can’t do Christmas shopping until after their birthdays cause they will get things from friends that were on my list! and I’d only have to take them back.

So today I am sharing the cards for those December birthdays.

Ms S was 17 on 2nd December

Linking this to the Flower Challenge here – I hope 1 year counts as old!

She celebrated by taking a small group of friends to a local restaurant and with GF cupcakes with meringue topping for dessert.

Ms A was 12 on 3rd December

and

We celebrated her birthday by having around 30, 12 year olds at home.

The treat bags

img_7640-640x633Ms S prepared these herself.  She was pretty pleased with herself sharing with her friends via social media.

To round out the birthdays Miss E was 21 on 7th.

We celebrated by having around 85 friends and family at home.

I made an exploding box.

Thank you to all the inspiration around blog land which helped me to come up with this.

I did have in mind this was to be a birthday cake – however everyone agrees it looks a little like a Wedding Cake. OOPs! Pretty sure we wont have need for one of these for a while yet, but my kiddos like to through me curve balls every now and then!

So over 4 days we had 3 parties (Thursday through to Sunday!).  Ms A also had to attend a party on the Friday night so we went to a party every day.

Last week we had Ms A’s Graduation from primary school ceremony and dinner. This coming Friday will see me finish at primary school after 16 years!

I do have another post planned before Christmas.  I hope you can pop in again.

I must get on and start planning Christmas Lunch.  Yes we are hosting.

Until next time

Cheers

Another 21st, a new home and a pair of socks…

Hello

Today I have a few projects I completed recently.

Firstly this card and decorated gift box were made for a 21st Ms E (20) had over the weekend.

botanical builder card and gift box (640x459)

I used a great tutorial here to create the 3D box frame portion of the card on the left.  Thank you Inna for such an easy to follow tutorial.  I used SU Botantical Blooms stamp set, Botanical Builder Framelits, Number of Years stamp set and Large numbers framelits to create the flower spray and the belly band for the gift box (on the right).  From all accounts it was received well.

I am linking up to the following challenges

Seize the Birthday here

and

Happy Little Stampers here

I used the same tutorial above to create this little picture for a lovely friend who moved into a beautiful new home recently.  We finally synced our schedules and caught up for lunch on Friday.

Holiday home new home 3D (640x606)

I used SU Holiday Home, Holiday Home Framelits and Flourishes Forest of Trees stamp set.  A little note to self next time stamp the sentiment after making the frame! It is just a little tight at the top of the frame.

Now while I was waiting up Saturday night for Mr M (18) to call to be picked up from his first clubbing experience I finished these for Ms A (11).

stocking stitch drops delight socks 1 (480x640)

These are Ms S’s (16) feet showing them off.

stocking stitch drops delight socks 2 (640x586)

A simple stocking stitch sock pattern using Drops delight yarn.

Before I go for today I will share a couple of pics of a very quiet Tulla Freeway at about 3 am Sunday morning. The freeway was closed for works on the widening. Mum’s taxi service had shifts both Friday and Saturday nights this weekend.

An 18th Birthday card…

Hello

Today I am sharing a card I have made for an 18th Birthday.  The original request was for rainbows and unicorns – it just didn’t “feel” right so we came up with the card below.

I am linking to the following challenges

Here is my card

18th birthday card (640x451)

I started by stamping my image from Jane’s Doodles Tearrific stamp set.  I created a mask and then stamped my image from Papersmooches Great Chemistry to look like he was holding his “hamburger”. I then coloured with various alcohol markers including my new copics.  Boy there is a difference in which markers you use.  When finished Mr M helped choose the sentiments which are from Papersmooches Mini Monograms and SU Number of Years.  I added to the mounts and card base.  To finish I winked his hair and his hamburger bun and gave his shoes and tie a touch from the red spica pen.  Now I look at him I meant to add some shading to the base to ground him.  He does have the tick from my critics and their mates so I will leave him as is.

So this guy is off to an 18th tonight with Miss E & Mr M.  Tomorrow Miss A has 2 parties one in the morning then a double (one party 2 birthday girls) late afternoon, after which I hope to get some more crafting in.

Hope you have some great plans for the weekend

Enjoy

Until next time

Cheers

The walking dead 21st card…

Hello

This was a special request card for one of the 21st.  Yep the birthday girl is a huge walking dead fan.  Over Christmas she spent a few days with us and the girls watched a few series of the Walking Dead.  I must admit I had to leave the room a few times.

I am linking this up to the following challenges

walking dead abbey (640x476)

I found the image online here, printed onto xpress it cardstock and coloured with alcohol markers. Daryl looks like he has been to the wrong tanning salon – a little to “orange”. I used MME Breeze paper along with SU Number of Years stamp set heat embossed with silver embossing powder and numbers die cut from large numbers framelits.  To add a little interest and so the numbers weren’t totally lost I traced around the numbers using a silver marker.

Thanks for stopping

Until next time

My new favourite – Number of Years…

Hello

Hope you have a great week and if you’re an Aussie had a great Australia Day.

Today I am sharing my newest favourite stamp set.  I will try to make a card soon using another stamp set.

Anyway my card today I am linking to two challenges

Firstly The Colour Tree Challenge here

and

Seize the Birthday here – sorry no toppings for me this time

This card is for the girl’s ex-dancing teacher.  For many of you you would know my children dance.  All three girls have been doing Jazz and tap for a number of years.  For a couple of years Ms S and Mr M also did hip hop.  The teacher sold her school to another teacher a couple of years ago, but still keeps in touch.  Ms E and Ms S have been asked to perform a dance along with the rest of their group at the teacher’s 60th Birthday party next week.  So of course the girls asked me to make a card.

IMG_7271 (482x640)

I have used SU Number of Years stamp set with gold embossing powder die cut with the co-ordinating die and popped up with fun foam. I stamped other images from the set with black ink, SU Soft Suede ink and mint macaron marker direct to the stamp.   This was placed on the rest of the card front with foam tape. The card base is white with a very vanilla mount and a smaller gold stripe mount from Winter Wonderland paper pack.  I added a piece of mint macaron lace (NBUS) before attaching the mounts to the card base.  I had to add some gold sequins from my stash for two reasons 1. I felt the card needed a little more bling! and 2. In recognition of all the sequin fabric we have had over the years!

Another pic taken when the sun was out briefly

IMG_7270 (480x640)

Before I leave I hope to have a little more creative time soon. My second part time job has had a change of management and as a result my role will no longer be required as  it is their policy to outsource this role to the local council.  I am not sad as I am hoping I will gain a few more hours to play in my craft room soon 🙂  In the first challenge I entered for the colour tree challenge Bronwyn included a pdf file for a spring planter box card, hopefully with the extra hours I gain soon I will be able to give it a go.

Until next time

Cheers

Darth Vader meets the Avengers…

Hello

For some reason my birthdays seem to come in batches!

This week we have 3 birthdays over 2 days.

Starting yesterday with Ms 16’s Boyfriend’s 16th birthday – yes she is older by 5 or 6 weeks!

He likes Star Wars – so much that he couldn’t wait until Christmas for his gift (a star wars t shirt & bag) because he wanted to wear it to the midnight screening of the new movie.

So after lots of googling this is what we decided on. We were inspired by this card here.

IMG_7142 (540x640)

Some punch art with a simple stamped greeting from The Paper company Birthday stamp set. The whole darth vader image is popped up with foam tape.

I am linking this to the current challenge at The Sisterhood of Crafters here – something old, something new

All the punches used are old, as is the stamp set – the new are enamel dots.

ARE YOU OUR STEP SISTER?

Two more Birthdays today

Today is a double birthday – my friend’s daughter is 16 and Mr M turns 18.

Mr M is a huge Marvel Avengers fan along with Dr Who and Star Wars. As I made the Darth Vader card for Ms S’s boyfriend and I have made him a Dr who inspired card here and here in the past it was time for a Marvel inspired card. Again lots of googling!

Thanks to these sites here and here for inspiration

IMG_7144 (640x591)

I used A4 cardstock and cut to 10.5 cm and scored at 10.5 cm intervals to create a concertina card and added additional “pages” until I had the number I needed.

This is the inside of the card

IMG_7145 (640x208)

left to right

Captain America, the Hulk, Thor, Iron man and the Black Widow (my version needs a little work she needs to be a little slimmer!)

I am linking this card up to the challenge at the Male Room here

To make the card front I used SU – Number of Years stamp and die set along with PTI Birthday Bash stamp set stamped with SU Real Red and Night of Navy ink and cardstock. I cut the numbers from fun foam to help raise them off the card front – this is so much easier than using multiple layers of cardstock. I have used lots of punches and dies to create the characters within the card. Some of these didn’t come out as expected, I am just going with it! I know the green arrow is missing and also hawk eye – maybe another time?

Ms 11 has put in a request for a card like this for her next birthday with little pet shop as the theme – in December!

and the final card for today

IMG_7143 (492x640)

Once again I have used the SU Number of Years stamp set and die and used fun foam die cut to add dimension.  I also used Inspired by stamping spring lilacs ribbon collection. Colours are SU very vanilla, perfect plum, so saffron and early espresso stamped off onto scrap first as I thought it may be too dark for this card.

I am linking this card up to the challenge at The Colour Tree here

http://addinktivedesigns.blogspot.com.au/2016/01/the-colour-tree-challenge-1-and-free.html

This is the quilt I made for my friend’s daughter

Siobhan's Quilt (1) (521x640)

Another disappearing nine patch. Quilted in the ditch around the 1/4 squares of the original nine patch. Quilt measures 130 cm x 160 cm .  It consists of 8 fabrics cut into 180 5″ squares in the blocks plus backing fabric (plain white) and black cotton binding fabric.  When I decided to make this quilt her colour preference was mauve and a French theme.  I have spent a few months collecting the fabrics, who knew mauve wasn’t such a “big” colour and “French theme” isn’t so big either. I can bet next time I go into a fabric store both those themes will be everywhere. One of the fabrics has French words, the Eiffel Tower, lace and other images and is also mauve so that had to be included.  I’m hoping her taste hasn’t changed significantly and she will use this for a few years.

Sorry for such a mammoth post

Thanks for hanging in til the end

Until next time

Cheers

Vicki
