Darth Vader meets the Avengers…

Hello

For some reason my birthdays seem to come in batches!

This week we have 3 birthdays over 2 days.

Starting yesterday with Ms 16’s Boyfriend’s 16th birthday – yes she is older by 5 or 6 weeks!

He likes Star Wars – so much that he couldn’t wait until Christmas for his gift (a star wars t shirt & bag) because he wanted to wear it to the midnight screening of the new movie.

So after lots of googling this is what we decided on. We were inspired by this card here.

IMG_7142 (540x640)

Some punch art with a simple stamped greeting from The Paper company Birthday stamp set. The whole darth vader image is popped up with foam tape.

I am linking this to the current challenge at The Sisterhood of Crafters here – something old, something new

All the punches used are old, as is the stamp set – the new are enamel dots.

ARE YOU OUR STEP SISTER?

Two more Birthdays today

Today is a double birthday – my friend’s daughter is 16 and Mr M turns 18.

Mr M is a huge Marvel Avengers fan along with Dr Who and Star Wars. As I made the Darth Vader card for Ms S’s boyfriend and I have made him a Dr who inspired card here and here in the past it was time for a Marvel inspired card. Again lots of googling!

Thanks to these sites here and here for inspiration

IMG_7144 (640x591)

I used A4 cardstock and cut to 10.5 cm and scored at 10.5 cm intervals to create a concertina card and added additional “pages” until I had the number I needed.

This is the inside of the card

IMG_7145 (640x208)

left to right

Captain America, the Hulk, Thor, Iron man and the Black Widow (my version needs a little work she needs to be a little slimmer!)

I am linking this card up to the challenge at the Male Room here

To make the card front I used SU – Number of Years stamp and die set along with PTI Birthday Bash stamp set stamped with SU Real Red and Night of Navy ink and cardstock. I cut the numbers from fun foam to help raise them off the card front – this is so much easier than using multiple layers of cardstock. I have used lots of punches and dies to create the characters within the card. Some of these didn’t come out as expected, I am just going with it! I know the green arrow is missing and also hawk eye – maybe another time?

Ms 11 has put in a request for a card like this for her next birthday with little pet shop as the theme – in December!

and the final card for today

IMG_7143 (492x640)

Once again I have used the SU Number of Years stamp set and die and used fun foam die cut to add dimension.  I also used Inspired by stamping spring lilacs ribbon collection. Colours are SU very vanilla, perfect plum, so saffron and early espresso stamped off onto scrap first as I thought it may be too dark for this card.

I am linking this card up to the challenge at The Colour Tree here

http://addinktivedesigns.blogspot.com.au/2016/01/the-colour-tree-challenge-1-and-free.html

This is the quilt I made for my friend’s daughter

Siobhan's Quilt (1) (521x640)

Another disappearing nine patch. Quilted in the ditch around the 1/4 squares of the original nine patch. Quilt measures 130 cm x 160 cm .  It consists of 8 fabrics cut into 180 5″ squares in the blocks plus backing fabric (plain white) and black cotton binding fabric.  When I decided to make this quilt her colour preference was mauve and a French theme.  I have spent a few months collecting the fabrics, who knew mauve wasn’t such a “big” colour and “French theme” isn’t so big either. I can bet next time I go into a fabric store both those themes will be everywhere. One of the fabrics has French words, the Eiffel Tower, lace and other images and is also mauve so that had to be included.  I’m hoping her taste hasn’t changed significantly and she will use this for a few years.

Sorry for such a mammoth post

Thanks for hanging in til the end

Until next time

Cheers

Vicki

One last Christmas Card…

Hello

I have one last Christmas Card to share and I am linking it up to the challenge at Scrapbook boutique – click on the pic to take you there

I am also linking up to the Challenge at Unstampabelles – Southern Hemisphere Christmas

UnstampaBelles Challenges

Here is my card

IMG_6252 (640x577)

This is for Ms 15’s boyfriend. The instructions were to be not to “girly”.  I was inspired by these toppers here. Thank you Judy. I have used the ornament punch, oval punches, a flower punch and a small circle punch. I embossed with a swirly embossing folder and a square lattice folder. The paper used was from my scraps. The finished card is 10cm square.

Before I go I want to share a pic of our Melaluca tree which sadly was removed from our yard yesterday.

IMG_6188 (2) (640x437)

This pic was taken from the upstairs window of my house looking over the yard. When Mr 16 and Ms 15 were smaller they would climb the tree and slide down the roof of the car port back into the tree. My only request was they didn’t fall! So for the last few days Ms 15 and Ms 10 have spent a lot of time climbing the tree and sliding down the roof to say good bye. We estimate the tree to be at least 40-45 years old (we have lived here for 22 years and the tree was well established before then). The tree had to be removed as the neighbour had got advice it was damaging her house. We will be replanting – just not another melaluca.

I didn’t realise until I read this post here that these trees were known as Summer snow. Thanks Susan.

This will be my last post before the Jolly Fat man pays a visit.

If you celebrate the Christmas Season I wish you a Merry Christmas and a big thank you to all who follow and comment regularly.

Cheers

A Minion Book mark…

Hello

I have a few things to share today – sorry it is a picture heavy post.

I am sharing a minion book mark for Mr 16’s girlfriend. We are giving her books for Christmas so of course she is going to need a new bookmark.

IMG_6157 (371x640)

I used some free digital paper from here. I then made a minion for the other side using these instructions as a guide from here. I used scraps of cardstock and the following punches SU owl builder, word window, flower and circle from itty bitty shapes and hear from itty bitty accents. Along with the scallop tag punch of course to make the tag shape. I used a fine liner to draw his smile and hair. I used some googly eyes. The words are from Jane’s Doodles Read all about it! and the book mark is finished with twine from WeRMK.

IMG_6158 (398x640)

I have been busy with some chocolate and silicone molds making sleighs and trees. The “gingerbread” chocolate house is awaiting construction.

IMG_6162 (640x247)

and

and

IMG_6167 (640x355)

These have all now been wrapped in celephane ready for delivery tomorrow.

And the 30 Santa’s got their arms and legs

IMG_6163 (640x427)

I used this skinny santa tutorial here. Thank you Sharon. I did use a few different punches & dies as that is what I have.

Mr 16 and Ms 10 also helped me to cover 35 small chocolate bars using MDS digital software.

Thanks for making it all the way to the end

Cheers

November challenge at Scrapbook Boutique…

Hello

Sorry been missing for a little while. One of my part time jobs had the AGM last week and I needed to prepare bits and pieces. Saturday was also dancing dress rehersal day for Ms 9. Tonight Ms 14 and Ms 18 have their dress rehersal. So my spare time the last few weeks has been doing their costumes and making sure we have all the required items. Concert this Friday night. Mr 16 and girlfriend, Ms 14’s boyfriend, Ms 18’s friend, hubby and me are all going to watch. I am delegating a lot of the costume changing to Ms 18. There are 14 costumes between the 3 girls a large number of the costumes this year are premade/bought from home items. For the first time Ms 18 and Ms 14 are in items together. A few years ago when Mr did hip hop I had 17 costumes that was a big year.

Anyway enough waffle.

It is time for a new challenge at Scrapbook boutique and unlike last month where I got all my things in order to create and had them sitting aside before I knew it October was gone and it was November and I missed the link up date.

This is the inspiration

I have gone with a general Christmas theme.

SBB Nov 2014

This card is 15cm square cut from SBB white card stock. I created a mount with SBB Summer colours pack – Grass. The card front is stamped with Mama Elephant Polar Pals and Annabelle Stamps Merry Messages. The sentiment is inlaid die cut (thanks Therese) using Quickutz Merry Christmas die. The baubles were created using glitter paper and Stampin UP! Ornament punch. To finish I drew the strings with a gold pen and a ruler.

I’m also linking up to Hazel’s challenge

Thanks for taking a peek

Let’s Celebrate…

I am linking the following cards upto the challenges at Grab button for Uniko Studio Challenge

Uniko Challenge #3 – use Washi tape

and

Moxie Fab – use washi tape or stickers

I have made a set of 4 cards.

IMG_3763

I used washi tape from My Mind’s Eye, Uniko Stamp Sets Background Builders Round in Circles and Fontiments Birthday along with 1 1/8″ circle punch and Stampin UP! ornament punch. I used a fine tip pen to create the bauble strings and added sequins, bling and wink of stella Clear to add some sparkle.

Merry Christmas…

Just sharing what I have been upto this week!

IMG_2937IMG_2936

With last minute shopping, work, end of school for Miss 8, book club and cleaning I made a few of these. One for us on Christmas Day and a couple for hubby to give as gifts to his work colleges. Each one is filled with chocolate. I must say I always have offers to help from the children – especially when the chocolates and lollies are about! There is a bit of quality control/sampling as we go.

IMG_2940

Miss 13 and Miss 8 helped to make these for the table on Christmas day. I was going to try one of the lovely designs I’ve seen lately – but a bit time poor – so the mass produced pillow box was the answer with some quick punching and stamping. A bit of double sided tape, foam dots and we were done. Again we were careful not to miss the all important step of taste testing!

Thanks for visiting at this busy time of the year.

Wishing you and yours a Merry Christmas – however you spend it.

Cheers

Vicki

A few things to share…

Sorry for lack of posts this week. Been a bit busy. Can you believe this is the only thing I have made all week and it really took just a few minutes. IMG_2931

I made this card for a great friend who came to support me (and the other creative people) at my recent venture into craft markets. I used AnnaBelle stamps Sentimental Bluebells, SU ink and Fiskars punch along with AnnaBelle stamps Chilli digi paper.

Here are a few of the cards I made for the day.

IMG_2821

The packs of cards weren’t popular (only sold one pack of 5) but the upside is I don’t have to make any to send to family and I have some left for teacher presents.  I also made some little gift tags which seemed to be more popular. My textiles also did well – so all in all a good experience.

If you have reached this far in this long make up post I’ll share a few things we have been doing this week. Now that 3 birthdays are over we have started Christmas shopping before Miss 8 finishes school next week. We have had 2 nights of school Christmas dance concerts (only had to add tinsel to a skirt for this one), week 2 of a new job, tonight we have an award ceremony for Mr 14  (not sure what for yet!) and also today Miss 17 had 4 wisdom teeth out.  I’m sure I’m not the only one at this time of the year very time poor.

What is everyone planning for Christmas? I have 25 people Christmas day and haven’t organised a thing yet.

If you have got this far – Thank you for hanging in there!

I’ll hopefully be back soon with somethings to share. I have received some nice new sets in the last few weeks and haven’t opened them yet.

Cheers

Vicki

JAI #143

The Challenge at Just add Ink is a colour challenge this week.

I am entering this card into the challenge.

I have used mostly SU products with the exception of the twine and the border punch.

Slowly making some Chrissy cards. How is everyone else going?

Thanks for taking a peek.

Cheers

Vicki

Christmas Wishes

I have been trying to find time all week to put this card together – I had this idea soon after my die arrived when I had bits on my work space.  I had to prioritize the birthdays first.

I have used the cuts by design border die from Annabelle stamps and SU Ornament punch. Sparkle paper is from Grace Taylor, twine from PTI and sentiment stamped in SU Night of Navy  from AnnaBelle stamps. Bauble strings drawn with fine liner and ruler – although I do have a stamp somewhere to do this! It came together pretty quickly so imagine I could do a few of these for Christmas in no time.

I am entering this into the monthly challenge at AnnaBelle Stamps.

Busy day shopping today – Clothes and food – two things four children always need!

Thanks for stopping

Cheers

Ornament Punch & Owl Punch

I was having a bit of a play with these two punches to use them in ways other than what was intended! Trying to extend the use of my products.

I took a photo on the angle to show how I had used embossing folders to add texture to the plain cardstock.

I used

SU Best of Everything,  Pocket Silhouettes & Happiest Birthday Wishes

2010-2012 In Colours CS (Poppy Parade, Pear Pizzazz & Concord Crush)

SU Markers Not Quite Navy, Calypso Coral, Lucky Limeade, Garden Green & Wisteria Wonder.

SU Ornament Punch & Owl Punch

SU Embossing Folders – Stripes & Elegant Bouquet

Non SU – shop bought card base, black & white CS

I know you can use the ornament punch for fish and the owl punch for soooo many other things. So hopefully I will get time to play next week.

Busy weekend planned. Two parties and maybe a trip to the Museum.

Cheers

Vicki
