Challenge #110: Animal Fun!

Hello

Popping in today to share my make for the latest challenge at Unstampabelles here

Challenge #110: Animal Fun!

TWIST: Layer it Up!

Any animal you use – human or non-human – will fit this one

Just Remember please: NO STAMPS!

I’ve opted to make a punch art owl. Check out last weeks post to, owls seem to be a DT favourite!

I have had this punch art “recipe” in my ideas file for a long time, so long I have forgotten where I got it from – it is hand written on a cue card! If it is your idea thank you. Below are a few photos of the basic shapes I used. The small orange heart is used for the beak.

I popped my owl up on a stenciled background with some foam tabs for dimension along with a few die cut leaves.

Until next time

Thanks for stopping

and

Cheers

Rainbows and Unicorns…

Hello

Today I am sharing a card using Jane’s Doodles Unicorn and Birthday Wishes stamp sets.

I am linking up to the current challenge at Seize the Birthday here no toppings for me this time

For my regular readers this will not surprise it was a specific request by Mr M for a friend.  Mr M and his friends have regular games days/nights where they play board games for about 12-14 hours.  And before you ask they do play board games because we regularly have the event out our place.  Any way one of the girls is having a birthday and this is the resulting card. The boys all chipped in and bought an add on pack for one of her board games – cause they get to use it too! Not so silly.  It did remind me of the kind of gifts partners buy each other like a kitchen appliance or garden equipment! Everyone gets something out of those types of gifts.

Enough of my waffle. I created the cloud base using embossing paste and a cloud stencil. I stamped and coloured my images with alcohol markers and popped them up on my card front.  I used my alcohol markers to colour a small section of cardstock and punched out the little hearts, adding them to the card front and adding a wink of stella.

Thanks for stopping

A significant birthday…

Hello

Recently we went to a significant birthday party for a friend of ours.  When someone at the party asked me how long I had known the birthday girl I was a little shocked that it is close to 30 years. Boy time flys.

Here is the card I made

I used my SU letters for the birthday girl’s name along with  cookie cutter punch, owl punch, fox punch and Papersmooches Hullabalo to make my “Liz”.  I used an embossing folder to create the background and my sentiment is from Cool treats.

The birthday girl is a great athelete competing in iron women events, various runs/marathons and stair runs (running up stair wells of very tall buildings). We meet when my hubby was competing in triathalons.  After so long mixing with these fit people it hasn’t rubbed off on me!

Hopefully you can see my idea of a water sport themed card.

I am linking this up to the challenge at Seize the Birthday here one layer – no toppings this time for me.

Thanks for stopping

Darth Vader meets the Avengers…

Hello

For some reason my birthdays seem to come in batches!

This week we have 3 birthdays over 2 days.

Starting yesterday with Ms 16’s Boyfriend’s 16th birthday – yes she is older by 5 or 6 weeks!

He likes Star Wars – so much that he couldn’t wait until Christmas for his gift (a star wars t shirt & bag) because he wanted to wear it to the midnight screening of the new movie.

So after lots of googling this is what we decided on. We were inspired by this card here.

IMG_7142 (540x640)

Some punch art with a simple stamped greeting from The Paper company Birthday stamp set. The whole darth vader image is popped up with foam tape.

I am linking this to the current challenge at The Sisterhood of Crafters here – something old, something new

All the punches used are old, as is the stamp set – the new are enamel dots.

ARE YOU OUR STEP SISTER?

Two more Birthdays today

Today is a double birthday – my friend’s daughter is 16 and Mr M turns 18.

Mr M is a huge Marvel Avengers fan along with Dr Who and Star Wars. As I made the Darth Vader card for Ms S’s boyfriend and I have made him a Dr who inspired card here and here in the past it was time for a Marvel inspired card. Again lots of googling!

Thanks to these sites here and here for inspiration

IMG_7144 (640x591)

I used A4 cardstock and cut to 10.5 cm and scored at 10.5 cm intervals to create a concertina card and added additional “pages” until I had the number I needed.

This is the inside of the card

IMG_7145 (640x208)

left to right

Captain America, the Hulk, Thor, Iron man and the Black Widow (my version needs a little work she needs to be a little slimmer!)

I am linking this card up to the challenge at the Male Room here

To make the card front I used SU – Number of Years stamp and die set along with PTI Birthday Bash stamp set stamped with SU Real Red and Night of Navy ink and cardstock. I cut the numbers from fun foam to help raise them off the card front – this is so much easier than using multiple layers of cardstock. I have used lots of punches and dies to create the characters within the card. Some of these didn’t come out as expected, I am just going with it! I know the green arrow is missing and also hawk eye – maybe another time?

Ms 11 has put in a request for a card like this for her next birthday with little pet shop as the theme – in December!

and the final card for today

IMG_7143 (492x640)

Once again I have used the SU Number of Years stamp set and die and used fun foam die cut to add dimension.  I also used Inspired by stamping spring lilacs ribbon collection. Colours are SU very vanilla, perfect plum, so saffron and early espresso stamped off onto scrap first as I thought it may be too dark for this card.

I am linking this card up to the challenge at The Colour Tree here

This is the quilt I made for my friend’s daughter

Siobhan's Quilt (1) (521x640)

Another disappearing nine patch. Quilted in the ditch around the 1/4 squares of the original nine patch. Quilt measures 130 cm x 160 cm .  It consists of 8 fabrics cut into 180 5″ squares in the blocks plus backing fabric (plain white) and black cotton binding fabric.  When I decided to make this quilt her colour preference was mauve and a French theme.  I have spent a few months collecting the fabrics, who knew mauve wasn’t such a “big” colour and “French theme” isn’t so big either. I can bet next time I go into a fabric store both those themes will be everywhere. One of the fabrics has French words, the Eiffel Tower, lace and other images and is also mauve so that had to be included.  I’m hoping her taste hasn’t changed significantly and she will use this for a few years.

Sorry for such a mammoth post

Thanks for hanging in til the end

Until next time

Cheers

A Minion Book mark…

Hello

I have a few things to share today – sorry it is a picture heavy post.

I am sharing a minion book mark for Mr 16’s girlfriend. We are giving her books for Christmas so of course she is going to need a new bookmark.

IMG_6157 (371x640)

I used some free digital paper from here. I then made a minion for the other side using these instructions as a guide from here. I used scraps of cardstock and the following punches SU owl builder, word window, flower and circle from itty bitty shapes and hear from itty bitty accents. Along with the scallop tag punch of course to make the tag shape. I used a fine liner to draw his smile and hair. I used some googly eyes. The words are from Jane’s Doodles Read all about it! and the book mark is finished with twine from WeRMK.

IMG_6158 (398x640)

I have been busy with some chocolate and silicone molds making sleighs and trees. The “gingerbread” chocolate house is awaiting construction.

IMG_6162 (640x247)

and

IMG_6159 (586x640)

and

IMG_6167 (640x355)

These have all now been wrapped in celephane ready for delivery tomorrow.

And the 30 Santa’s got their arms and legs

IMG_6163 (640x427)

I used this skinny santa tutorial here. Thank you Sharon. I did use a few different punches & dies as that is what I have.

Mr 16 and Ms 10 also helped me to cover 35 small chocolate bars using MDS digital software.

Thanks for making it all the way to the end

Cheers

Sweet Summer at Muse, Uniko, CAS(E) + Curtain Call

Hello

Thanks for stopping to visit me. Hope you have had a fabulous weekend.

Another busy one. Saturday was spent with my friends at a Charity High Tea & market stalls – all day :). Today together Miss E (18), Miss S (14) and myself visited a chocolate factory/shop before Miss S performed in a dance comp. A nice drive which gave me some time to do some knitting – lucky to have someone else to drive now. I’ll share pics of what I am knitting another day.

Today I am sharing 2 cards which I am linking up to the following challenges. Miss E requested a flowery purple card for a friend so I have made 2 so she can choose. Therese’s card is perfect inspiration.

Anything Goes

First up

Sweet summer + Uniko Birthday Fontiments (640x450)

I used SU Sweet Summer stamped with momento tuxedo black onto SU Naturals White CS before water colouring with  PTI winter wisteria and SU Perfect Plum and Old Olive. The sentiment panel is Uniko Fontiments Birthday stamped with versafine onyx black and mounted onto SU Perfect plum CS.

and

Secondly

Mixed Bunch + Uniko Birthday Foniments (476x640)

I’ve used PTI Winter Wisteria, SU Smokey slate ink to stamp images from SU Mixed Bunch and Morning Meadow sets. I used co co ordinating pansy and Itty bitty accents punches. The sentiment is once again from Uniko Fontiments Birthday stamped in Encore silver ink before heat embossing. Finished off with rhinestones and a heart punched from glitter paper using SU Owl Punch.

and before I go

This is my youngest making an appearance in the Punch with Judy Newsletter. Miss A was looking for something to help with weaving and she found my Westalee Stiletto a purchased from Judy at http://www.punchwithjudy.com.au/ . I sent Judy a pic and she is sharing it with her newsletter readers.

Well I think that covers everything.

Thanks for stopping and leaving your lovely comments

Susi’s Birthday + Rudolf…

It is my walking, book club friends birthday this week.

Happy Birthday Susi

IMG_3983

and the back

IMG_3984

I used her favourite colour orange (SU Pumpkin Pie) along with some SU patterned paper. The image is from Papersmooches woofers and twitters coloured just like her dog Zander.  The rest of the front of the card is embellished with SU Label Love and Pretty Petites and the co ordinating punches. On the back I used a Dienamics tag die and also a PTI birthday word die and stamped the “happy” from PTI Communique Curves in SU smoky slate. The stamps on the back are I think See D’s – sorry I don’t have any packaging for those. These stamps represent some of Susi’s other favourite things.  The button is from Annabelle Stamps threaded with some ribbon from Kaszazz. I also stamped 2 stacks of books from Papersmooches smarty pants, coloured and attached to the top of 2 of the blocks. I put a little glossy accents on the books and “Zander’s” bow tie. This didn’t come together how I had imagined it would, I hope she likes it.

I followed this you tube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4H6Kveu0ctc for a block card

I also have a little bit more Christmas

This is my take on the current challenge at the Lollipop Ladies.

Challenge #81 Reindeer cupcakes + Grids

IMG_3969

I have used a MFT Dienamics Traditional tags Stax (3rd largest) and added a piece of Pebbles Happy go Lucky cardstock and a small piece of red cardstock (unknown brand – truth is it was sitting next to my guillotine). I punched a hole in the top and threaded some WRMK red and white twine through. Rudolf (no red nose) was made using the SU owl punch and little leaves die. I drew the whites of his eyes with a gel pen. I got the inspiration for Rudolf from Jacquii McLeay http://splotchdesign.blogspot.com.au/search/label/owl%20punch

There is a second challenge also running at the Lollipop Ladies

You can enter either challenge at the moment.

Hope your week has got off to a great start.

Happy Birthday Chanelle!

I have made this for Miss E’s friend who is having an 18th tonight.

You are probably saying to yourself right now there is a lot going on here on this card and tag!  As Chanelle loves owls – owls had to be involved. As for the colour choices – simple they had to match the owl necklace we bought at a chain jewellery store. She has a rather good sense of humour – so we managed to find (a child’s) back pack made of an all over owl print YEAH. We then proceeded to fill it with owl only contents YEAH. I’m sure others observing 3 girls and their mum shop were very entertained. I can’t say choosing a gift for Miss S (13) to take to her party tonight was as much fun.

??????????????????????????????????????????

What I have used

Stamps – Uniko Fontiments Birthday, Stampin UP! Pennant Parade

Paper – Cardstock – mostly bits a mix of American Crafts and unknown, Jillibean Soup Spotted Owl 6×6 pad

Punches and Dies – Fiskars 2″ circle, Stampin UP! Owl punch, PTI heart-2-heart #2, MFT Dienamics Traditional Tags Stax, Quickutz Deckhalls Alphabet, CC Designs Leafy Branch

Sizzix Chevron Embossing folder, scrap felt, Washi Tape from the Stamp Spot #60 and Kaszazz Organdy Orange ribbon

Punch Owl…

IMG_3037

I made this card following a sketch at Whimsie Doodles

I haven’t actually used any stamps. I used various circle punches to create this owl. I followed this example by Tanja Kolar  here http://www.tanjakolar.de/?p=1503

I was originally going to use a stamped image – but changed my mind after colouring the image. I’ll use that another day – or give it to Miss 8 to put on her book covers for school.

I’m also linking this up to the challenge at UnstampaBelles #19

http://unstampabelleschallenges.blogspot.com.au/2013/01/unstampabelles-19-use-one-or-more-dies.html

I used only one die – the leaf die. If I had thought a little more I could have used circle dies instead of punches!

Been to the Melbourne Zoo this morning. Beautiful new baby boy elephant – no name yet.

Hope you are having a great start to the week.  Still thinking about all the people in the fire zones – keep safe.

Cheers
