A Minion Book mark…

Hello

I have a few things to share today – sorry it is a picture heavy post.

I am sharing a minion book mark for Mr 16’s girlfriend. We are giving her books for Christmas so of course she is going to need a new bookmark.

IMG_6157 (371x640)

I used some free digital paper from here. I then made a minion for the other side using these instructions as a guide from here. I used scraps of cardstock and the following punches SU owl builder, word window, flower and circle from itty bitty shapes and hear from itty bitty accents. Along with the scallop tag punch of course to make the tag shape. I used a fine liner to draw his smile and hair. I used some googly eyes. The words are from Jane’s Doodles Read all about it! and the book mark is finished with twine from WeRMK.

IMG_6158 (398x640)

I have been busy with some chocolate and silicone molds making sleighs and trees. The “gingerbread” chocolate house is awaiting construction.

and

and

These have all now been wrapped in celephane ready for delivery tomorrow.

And the 30 Santa’s got their arms and legs

IMG_6163 (640x427)

I used this skinny santa tutorial here. Thank you Sharon. I did use a few different punches & dies as that is what I have.

Mr 16 and Ms 10 also helped me to cover 35 small chocolate bars using MDS digital software.

Thanks for making it all the way to the end

Cheers

I started with SU Very vanilla cs 5cm x 8.5cm. Using the Scallop tag topper punch I created a tag and finished by rounding the corners. The inks I have used are SU Cherry Cobbler, SU Baked Brown Sugar, SU Always Artichoke and Memento Tuxedo black. The stamp sets used are IBS Build a stocking, IBS Holiday Ornaments, IBS Sugar & Spice and SU Holiday Home. The tags are finished with SU cherry cobbler tulle ribbon.

Book club xmas 2014

Book labels, book mark made using Jane’s Doodles stamp sets see post here and some Christmas tags. The box is an adaption from Sam’s at Pootles here. Thank you. I used some SU patterned paper (Be of good cheer).

Last night my friend and I crafted from 8 pm – 1 am making paper Santas – 12 for her and nearly 30 for me. This took a little longer than I thought but it was nice to chat and craft at a leisurely pace.  I will share some pics later in the week when the Santas get their arms and legs!

Crafting with Dragonflies pink…

Hello

I am attending an annual Fund raiser later this week for Cancer. A group of friends have been organising this for 8 years now. Generally a group of 50 or 60 women get together in one house for a luncheon which we all pay to attend, take a present, we then pay to receive another gift by another attendee and play lots of fun games to raise money for Cancer charities. Last year we also had a guest speaker.

I have made this tag using Papersmooches Hope stamp set, SU spiral flower die, sizzlits little leaves die and scalloped tag punch.

I am linking to the current challenge at Crafting with Dragonflies – Pink cards for Breast Cancer

I know I haven’t followed the rules strictly by creating a tag – so understand if I am disqualified thought I’d link up anyway.

I love badge

Here is my wrapped gift – all ready for later in week!

I think this set is very fitting for the occasion.

All the best to Hilde in her journey.

Book labels with Jane’s Doodles…

Hello

Hope you had a great weekend.

I had the Melbourne Zoo Birthday Party with my girls and Ms 14’s boyfriend. Mr 16 had his girl friend’s Debutante Ball.

Anyway I also had a little time to play.

Image 1

I had wanted to make some more book labels for my book club friends. These will be gifts. I know from now till the end of the year is pretty busy in our house with lots of birthdays, dance concert, school stuff and other bits and pieces that happen that I wanted to get something under way now.

I have used a few different sets to make these up.

and

IMG_5526 (640x436)

and

IMG_5527 (640x611)

and

IMG_5528 (640x607)

The one set which is consistent is Jane’s Doodles Read all about it – for the words – “This book belongs to: “. I have also used Janes’s Doodles Doodle Flowers II and Raindrops along with PTI Happy Hexagons, Uniko Background Builders Vines and Kaszazz Stitched Borders.  I have used both water based and alcohol based markers and inks from SU and PTI along with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. All labels are stamped onto SU Whisper white cs 5 cm x 9 cm. To adhere to the inside covers I have attached pieces of double sided tape to the back which can be removed when adding to books.  I was trying to link stamps to books we have read for example we recently read The Language of Flowers – Vanessa Diffenbaugh.

This wouldn’t be complete with out a new book mark

IMG_5520 (640x426)

I used Jane’s Doodles Flying High along with Read all about it and the book mark top is made using SU scallop tag punch and finished with ribbons.

I also made this at the weekend

IMG_5517 (640x427)

I used CWA lemon butter recipe. It made 2 jars this size. Mr M (16) just asked when I was going to make more – yep it’s all gone!

We made dozen lemon tarts with pastry cases and lemon butter filling the rest we ate on ice cream, in yogurt and on toast/muffins.

A little update…

Hello

A little update since my last post – some crafty and some not crafty – you may want to grab a drink it is a long post.

I altered and added new pieces to an outfit so Ms 9 could make her first Holy Communion. I altered a skirt I had made for Ms 18 she wore 9 years ago and made a new bodice. I still had a piece large enough left from the original skirt and top.

This is the pattern I have used for all my girls.

Pic of Ms A

IMG_5264 (436x640)A pic of the card I made for her – the Dove isn’t a symbol for communion but Ms A really liked it like that.

IMG_5323 (640x551)

Ms 14 was in need of some new pj shorts – we googled and found these patterns before picking some fabric from my stash.

This is her first major sewing project.

I helped by doing the button holes to pull through the ribbon tie.

pj shorts (640x404)

We have 2 more pairs planned. This will be a project for the upcoming school holidays.

I attended a local craft group held at the local library. I spent a little over an hour with these women and made a poppy for their collection. A simple knit pattern – cast on 60 stitches in red yarn, 2 x 2 rib for about 12 rows then begin decrease by k2 tog until no stitches. Form a circular shape and join. add some black for the centre of the poppy and you are done. The box of poppies will be used at Melbourne’s Fed Square. If you would like to contribute there is lots of information on their page.

I have found a little time to continue my jumper – will share a pic another time.

Other things we have been up to

Ms 14 participated in a charity run. The funds raised support Sr Dorothy Bayliss and her work with Asylum seekers.  The run was a relay 150 km starting at 4 am until 4 pm. The participants do laps of the local river using 2 bridges to cross and complete the laps. Participants are required to complete at least 4 laps – they can do more if they wish. This year as Ms 14 has developed an injury she only did the 4 laps totaling 20 km. So I went along and gave her some encouragement. This is why we have been at training at 6.45 am a couple of mornings a week.

We have had the final day of play for netball this season. The younger teams compete in a round robin tournament and the older girls had their grand final. My older girls didn’t make the finals.

Monday (a week ago) Ms 9 competed in the inter school sports – 800 m. Another injury just before the start – a grazed knee heading to the starting line. A quick cuddle and “you’ll be right” from mum saw her go onto compete.

A new hot water service was installed amongst all this – the old one just gave up – can’t complain it had lasted us 18 years. Through 4 babies including all those hot nappy washes and long hot teenage showers!

Mr M had his basketball Grand final and they won. Hubby is the coach so we have 2 more trophies for the cabinet. We will need a new cabinet soon.

Today is Hubby’s birthday – he received the card I made for SBB challenge casing Therese.

Case Therese 4 (640x478)

This week coming isn’t going to be any slower.

Wednesday night is Ms 9’s school concert and Friday is netball presentation night as well as Mr 16 is taking his girlfriend to a formal. I have a few extra work meetings as well as the normal everyday things.  I can’t see much crafty time this week, but you never know I might squeeze in some time some how.

If you got this far – a huge Thank you

So must get on and bake a cake for hubby – sponge cake is the request.

Cheers

A bag and gift tag + Playing with Poppy Sketches

Hello

Happy Monday

I found a little time over the weekend to play with these two challenges

I love badgeCreate a bag and a gift tag

My entry

Gift bag (640x493)

I was inspired by Sam’s Extra massive bag at pootles.co.uk – although I have changed the dimensions a bit.

I used two pieces of SU brights cs 11″ x 12″ and scored both the same. Along the 11″ side at 2″ and 10″ and 12″ side at 1″ and 5″.

I folded the score lines. I then joined the sides, folded down the top and then folded in the bottom and secured. I cut a piece of cs to reinforce the base 6.5″ x 3.5″ and placed in the bottom of the bag with double sided tape. Next I punched holes in the top and threaded ribbon through to make the handles.  Finished bag size 7″W x  4″D x 8″ H.

I then made a co ordinating tag. I used the SU Scallop tag punch and whisper white cs and an off cut of the same patterned paper and a scallop border punch. I stamped SU label something with PTI Raspberry Fizz ink and used the hexagon punch. I created the mount with a small piece of matching cs (not sure of brand). Finished with ribbon.

gift tag (350x640)

The bag is the right size to hold some T2 tea for a present.

and

jane's doodles (455x640)

I made this card using Jane’s Doodles janesdoodles.blogspot.com free digital stamp. I coloured with alcohol markers (mostly Kaisercraft). I die cut using MFT Tags Stax and layered with violet cs. I popped this onto my card front which I had adhered some pink cs (brand unknown) and some gold coloured self adhesive ribbon I got from a stationery store. I added SU little leaves cut from gold glitter paper and a flower from MFT rolled flowers with a gold rhinestone. Finishing touches were ribbon, wink of stella followed by glossy accents and a few clear sequins.

It is nice a sunny here today so I managed to get a pic of the glittery image.

jane's doodles 2 (640x480)

There is still time to play along with both these challenges.

Thanks so much for taking a peek (and all your lovely comments).

Cheers

Birthday Card

Hello

The tag was created by stamping Inspired by Stamping creative tags in SU Marina Mist and Certainly Celery inks. The other finishing touches are sequins and pearls from my stash and a little wink of stella.

???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

For the gift tag I used SU Morning Meadow stamped in Marina Mist and the label from label something along with the sentiment from ABS Sentimental Bluebells. I used Decorative label, modern label and scallop tag punches. The ribbon is from Kaisercraft.

A few new projects…

IBS-Gift-Ideas-Challenge

I have made this for the challenge – a gift tag using die cut cork stamped using Inspired by Stamping Fancy Circles in PTI white ink. I also used SU scalloped top tag punch, SU Elegant Butterfly punch some unknown cardstock, pearls and ribbon from my stash.  Thanks to Michelle for the inspiration here

IMG_4728

I also made this gift

IMG_4725

The Felt flower is made from die cuts and adhered to both an aligator hair clip and pin. I used buttons to make earrings.

The clutch or hold all is made from some fabric from my stash using Newlook 6723 Pattern.

Miss E is off to a party tonight this is part of the gift along with a few bits and bobs from Typo.

Must also mention she is driving! She got her licence yesterday.

So some driving trips are off my list – no late night pick up from dancing classes and she can do the Netball training run.

Here is a pic of the gift bag finished with a little washi tape.

IMG_4726

Before I go a few other projects

Pink rib scarf

I finished this scarf a while ago and forgot to share. I used 2 x 25g balls in a rib pattern.

The yarn is Filatura Di Crosa baby Principessa Merino colour 335.

IMG_4730

This is a WIP. I am trying to use up some of my stash of fabric. I have started by cutting 4″ x 4″ squares. Alternating the patterned squares with a white fabric.

Not sure whether to add a white border before attaching the backing fabric (a pink with white spot) or not. What do you think?

Enjoy your weekend

Busy as usual 3 games of netball tomorrow and a basketball grand final.

Thanks for taking a peek

Cheers

A little tidy up…

Hello

Thought I would share a few things I have been up to the last few days.  It is a long weekend here in Melbourne – no sport – so I found myself with a little time.

I appologise for the poor quality pics (and the volume!) – my computer has decided it doesn’t want to “talk” to other devices so I have taken the pics on my phone.

Before

and

marker storage

ink storage 3Dividers from Howard’s storage which I cut to size

After seeing this post

http://a-consuming-passion.blogspot.com.au/2014/02/my-portable-copic-storage.html

which Sue shared I was inspired to fix up my storage which I had originally made with card board from boxes and packaging. It was a little wibbly wobbly.

This is it so far.

ink and marker storage 2

and

These are pigeon holes created on my desk top by using an IKEA shelf with the flat side up as a long shelf . They are in easy reach so things should get put away right!

And for the rest of my ink

cube ink storageI use two of those hard plastic A4 cases for my cubes.

After this exercise I realise I have a lot of ink and markers.

These pics don’t include my water based makers. These are stored seperately.

After that little tidy up I did make something for a party Miss S has next weekend.

envelope punch board hand bag Eliza 3

I followed a video by Sam Donald I came across recently which used the Envelope Punch Board.  I used brads instead of buttons.

I also used Stampin UP! Scallop tag punch to create the tag stamped using SU Happy Congratulations and Express yourself.

I couldn’t stop at one

So I made this one as well
