A few more recent birthday creations…

Hello

Popping in to share a couple of recent birthday cards.

This first one was for a friend of Mr M’s.  The colours and flowers were as requested.  Funny story Ms E went to the same party and took a card from my stash.  So the birthday girl got 2 totally different cards from our family.

One of the girls netball team mates turns 30 on 31st.  This year she decided to have a party early – don’t know why people don’t want to celebrate her birthday on the 31st?!! Anyway the focus was all on her last week.  I went to the party along with Ms E and Ms S and had a good night and my first experience of a photo booth.  This was rather funny cause I can’t see much without my glasses so if you can imagine how the quick prop changes and no glasses combo turned out.  This lady likes a drink or two this was the only set I could find in my stash with a glass.  I don’t particularly think she is beach loving but she is an Aussie summer babe.  I have since ordered a new stamp set for my stash – well there was obviously a gap in my collection!

Thanks for stopping

Cheers

Vicki

A special card…

Hello

This is my DT post for Unstampabelles Challenge #61 – Changing Seasons TWIST make it masculine

You can find the new challenge here

Unstampabelles Challenges

Recently Ms S’s boyfriend’s sister made her First Holy Communion. This card represents a special event/change of season.  If the flowers and lace doily were excluded it would suit a male.

Spring Planter Box…

Hello

After my not following the rules for The Colour Tree Challenge I decided to have another go.  I also have no excuses for not having a go at the Spring Planter Box tutorial Bronwyn kindly gave all participants from Challenge #1.

This will be given to a friend who had a birthday last week – late I know but we wont see each other til next week so all OK.

I have used the correct colours this time for the challenge at TCTC #4 here

spring planter box 1 (594x640)

Instead of stamping with the hardwood stamp set I inked up my Sizzix Woodgrain embossing folder with crumb cake ink (an allowable neutral I think) and embossed the pieces.  I also substituted in Sizzlits Little leaves die which I used to make the leaves from Pool Party Cardstock.  I created the flowers on calypso coral and daffodil delight cardstock with calypso coral marker and daffodil delight ink.  I used SU Petite Petals and SU Flower shop stamp sets. I created the little Happy Birthday tag using SU Endless Birthday Wishes stamp set stamped in tip top taupe and die cut with Tag and Labels Framelits on very vanilla cardstock.  The twine is white Baker’s twin.  I die cut the butterflies using Bold Butterflies Framelits.

Crafting with Dragonflies pink…

Hello

I am attending an annual Fund raiser later this week for Cancer. A group of friends have been organising this for 8 years now. Generally a group of 50 or 60 women get together in one house for a luncheon which we all pay to attend, take a present, we then pay to receive another gift by another attendee and play lots of fun games to raise money for Cancer charities. Last year we also had a guest speaker.

I have made this tag using Papersmooches Hope stamp set, SU spiral flower die, sizzlits little leaves die and scalloped tag punch.

I am linking to the current challenge at Crafting with Dragonflies – Pink cards for Breast Cancer

I know I haven’t followed the rules strictly by creating a tag – so understand if I am disqualified thought I’d link up anyway.

I love badge

Here is my wrapped gift – all ready for later in week!

I think this set is very fitting for the occasion.

All the best to Hilde in her journey.

A little update…

Hello

A little update since my last post – some crafty and some not crafty – you may want to grab a drink it is a long post.

I altered and added new pieces to an outfit so Ms 9 could make her first Holy Communion. I altered a skirt I had made for Ms 18 she wore 9 years ago and made a new bodice. I still had a piece large enough left from the original skirt and top.

This is the pattern I have used for all my girls.

Ms 14 was in need of some new pj shorts – we googled and found these patterns before picking some fabric from my stash.

This is her first major sewing project.

I helped by doing the button holes to pull through the ribbon tie.

We have 2 more pairs planned. This will be a project for the upcoming school holidays.

I attended a local craft group held at the local library. I spent a little over an hour with these women and made a poppy for their collection. A simple knit pattern – cast on 60 stitches in red yarn, 2 x 2 rib for about 12 rows then begin decrease by k2 tog until no stitches. Form a circular shape and join. add some black for the centre of the poppy and you are done. The box of poppies will be used at Melbourne’s Fed Square. If you would like to contribute there is lots of information on their page.

I have found a little time to continue my jumper – will share a pic another time.

Other things we have been up to

Ms 14 participated in a charity run. The funds raised support Sr Dorothy Bayliss and her work with Asylum seekers.  The run was a relay 150 km starting at 4 am until 4 pm. The participants do laps of the local river using 2 bridges to cross and complete the laps. Participants are required to complete at least 4 laps – they can do more if they wish. This year as Ms 14 has developed an injury she only did the 4 laps totaling 20 km. So I went along and gave her some encouragement. This is why we have been at training at 6.45 am a couple of mornings a week.

We have had the final day of play for netball this season. The younger teams compete in a round robin tournament and the older girls had their grand final. My older girls didn’t make the finals.

Monday (a week ago) Ms 9 competed in the inter school sports – 800 m. Another injury just before the start – a grazed knee heading to the starting line. A quick cuddle and “you’ll be right” from mum saw her go onto compete.

A new hot water service was installed amongst all this – the old one just gave up – can’t complain it had lasted us 18 years. Through 4 babies including all those hot nappy washes and long hot teenage showers!

Mr M had his basketball Grand final and they won. Hubby is the coach so we have 2 more trophies for the cabinet. We will need a new cabinet soon.

Today is Hubby’s birthday – he received the card I made for SBB challenge casing Therese.

Case Therese 4 (640x478)

This week coming isn’t going to be any slower.

Wednesday night is Ms 9’s school concert and Friday is netball presentation night as well as Mr 16 is taking his girlfriend to a formal. I have a few extra work meetings as well as the normal everyday things.  I can’t see much crafty time this week, but you never know I might squeeze in some time some how.

If you got this far – a huge Thank you

So must get on and bake a cake for hubby – sponge cake is the request.

Cheers

A bag and gift tag + Playing with Poppy Sketches

Hello

Happy Monday

I found a little time over the weekend to play with these two challenges

I love badgeCreate a bag and a gift tag

My entry

Gift bag (640x493)

I was inspired by Sam’s Extra massive bag at pootles.co.uk – although I have changed the dimensions a bit.

I used two pieces of SU brights cs 11″ x 12″ and scored both the same. Along the 11″ side at 2″ and 10″ and 12″ side at 1″ and 5″.

I folded the score lines. I then joined the sides, folded down the top and then folded in the bottom and secured. I cut a piece of cs to reinforce the base 6.5″ x 3.5″ and placed in the bottom of the bag with double sided tape. Next I punched holes in the top and threaded ribbon through to make the handles.  Finished bag size 7″W x  4″D x 8″ H.

I then made a co ordinating tag. I used the SU Scallop tag punch and whisper white cs and an off cut of the same patterned paper and a scallop border punch. I stamped SU label something with PTI Raspberry Fizz ink and used the hexagon punch. I created the mount with a small piece of matching cs (not sure of brand). Finished with ribbon.

gift tag (350x640)

The bag is the right size to hold some T2 tea for a present.

and

jane's doodles (455x640)

I made this card using Jane’s Doodles janesdoodles.blogspot.com free digital stamp. I coloured with alcohol markers (mostly Kaisercraft). I die cut using MFT Tags Stax and layered with violet cs. I popped this onto my card front which I had adhered some pink cs (brand unknown) and some gold coloured self adhesive ribbon I got from a stationery store. I added SU little leaves cut from gold glitter paper and a flower from MFT rolled flowers with a gold rhinestone. Finishing touches were ribbon, wink of stella followed by glossy accents and a few clear sequins.

It is nice a sunny here today so I managed to get a pic of the glittery image.

There is still time to play along with both these challenges.

Thanks so much for taking a peek (and all your lovely comments).

A few flowers…

2014 March

Hello

It has been a long time since my last post – nearly a month. I must admit I haven’t been spending much time in my craft room. Out of necessity I have created this card for my oldest friend’s birthday (we have been friends since pre-school/kinder) – a very long time! Although we don’t see each other often due to varying things. Anyway enough of my waffle.

A Card in a box

card in a box 3

and the back

card in a box 2

I have used SU Petite Petals stamp set and co ordinating punch, SU Papillon Potpourri, SU Sweet Summer, Sizzlits Little Leaves, SU cardstock, patterned paper and inks.

Thank you to Tanya for the video I used at

I am linking it up to the following challenges

Before I go the pic at the top of this post is my cheeky cat. No wonder I can’t grow plants!

Until next time

Susi’s Birthday + Rudolf…

It is my walking, book club friends birthday this week.

Happy Birthday Susi

IMG_3983

and the back

IMG_3984

I used her favourite colour orange (SU Pumpkin Pie) along with some SU patterned paper. The image is from Papersmooches woofers and twitters coloured just like her dog Zander.  The rest of the front of the card is embellished with SU Label Love and Pretty Petites and the co ordinating punches. On the back I used a Dienamics tag die and also a PTI birthday word die and stamped the “happy” from PTI Communique Curves in SU smoky slate. The stamps on the back are I think See D’s – sorry I don’t have any packaging for those. These stamps represent some of Susi’s other favourite things.  The button is from Annabelle Stamps threaded with some ribbon from Kaszazz. I also stamped 2 stacks of books from Papersmooches smarty pants, coloured and attached to the top of 2 of the blocks. I put a little glossy accents on the books and “Zander’s” bow tie. This didn’t come together how I had imagined it would, I hope she likes it.

I followed this you tube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4H6Kveu0ctc for a block card

I also have a little bit more Christmas

This is my take on the current challenge at the Lollipop Ladies.

Challenge #81 Reindeer cupcakes + Grids

IMG_3969

I have used a MFT Dienamics Traditional tags Stax (3rd largest) and added a piece of Pebbles Happy go Lucky cardstock and a small piece of red cardstock (unknown brand – truth is it was sitting next to my guillotine). I punched a hole in the top and threaded some WRMK red and white twine through. Rudolf (no red nose) was made using the SU owl punch and little leaves die. I drew the whites of his eyes with a gel pen. I got the inspiration for Rudolf from Jacquii McLeay http://splotchdesign.blogspot.com.au/search/label/owl%20punch

There is a second challenge also running at the Lollipop Ladies

You can enter either challenge at the moment.

Hope your week has got off to a great start.

Punch Owl…

IMG_3037

I made this card following a sketch at Whimsie Doodles

I haven’t actually used any stamps. I used various circle punches to create this owl. I followed this example by Tanja Kolar  here http://www.tanjakolar.de/?p=1503

I was originally going to use a stamped image – but changed my mind after colouring the image. I’ll use that another day – or give it to Miss 8 to put on her book covers for school.

I’m also linking this up to the challenge at UnstampaBelles #19

http://unstampabelleschallenges.blogspot.com.au/2013/01/unstampabelles-19-use-one-or-more-dies.html

I used only one die – the leaf die. If I had thought a little more I could have used circle dies instead of punches!

Been to the Melbourne Zoo this morning. Beautiful new baby boy elephant – no name yet.

Hope you are having a great start to the week.  Still thinking about all the people in the fire zones – keep safe.

Cheers

Vicki

Happy Birthday Siobhan

IMG_2985I made this for friend’s daughter who is turning 13 today – funnily her mum and I have been friends since we were about the same age – I’m not going to tell you how long that is though!

I used Penny Black Zoophatbet, Creativ ABC stamped with colorbox heliotrope and coloured with various markers. The “S” was finished off with glossy accents. I added some Kaisercraft purple ink to the edge of the name panel with a distressing tool.  Not sure what brand the cardstock and patterned paper are – just had them here! I used MFT Dienamics dies for the flowers cut in felt and SU Sizzlits Little leaves cut from CS. The flowers were finished with a mauve coloured pearl.

These are Siobhan’s favourite colours – according to my Miss S they catch the bus to school most days together.
